Dean found Ginny at the Quidditch pitch.
He grabbed a school broomstick and was soon up in the air alongside Ginny. "Alright if I join you?"
"Why don't you go hang out with your new best friend, Malfoy?" she retorted.
"Ginny, he's not my best friend, nor is he anyone else's."
"He's Harry's."
"You have a point there," he conceded. "Besides Harry, I mean."
"Well, you all seemed pretty chummy with him back there."
"We were just trying to be fair."
Ginny gave him a scathing look and flew off in the opposite direction. Having learned from his mistakes when he and Ginny had dated before, rather than pressing her to talk now, he flew back down to the shed and retrieved a Quaffle.
"Oi, Gin!" he called and showed her the ball. With a nod of her head, she agreed. They spent the next quarter hour flying and throwing the ball, and the following half hour taking turns as Keeper while the other attempted to score, before they called it a day, Ginny having pummelled Dean seventeen to three.
"You alright to talk now?" he asked as they returned the ball and broomsticks to the shed.
"Talk, or listen?"
"A bit of both," he said, grinning.
"Alright. Talk, but I can't promise to agree with you about Malfoy."
"Fair enough. First off, Seamus was way out of line, and I told him as much. I don't see what you did as all that different from what everyone was doing before Harry and Malfoy … well …"
"Dean, I'm not a jealous shrew. I'm pissed off, but I'll get over that. It's just … well, it's Malfoy. I mean, what the fuck?"
Dean laughed at that. "Yeah, we were all wondering the same thing."
"It's more than a feeling I have about Malfoy. His father tried to kill me, and nearly succeeded, if you recall. The rest of you might be willing to forgive and forget, but I think it's asking a bit much to expect me to do the same."
"No one expects you to forgive and forget, Gin."
"Harry does."
"Well, Harry's a prat, isn't he?" Ginny's responding smile warmed Dean inside. "Just because he's taken to the guy doesn’t mean everyone else has to."
"But you have too, and so has everyone else. Because Golden Boy said to."
Dean laughed. "You sounded just like Malfoy when you said that."
Ginny narrowed her eyes dangerously, but a twitch of her lip told Dean that she hadn't lost her sense of humour. "I may have to hex you for that comment, Thomas!" She took out her wand and began to play with it. "I will, however, let it go, just this once. But compare me to that Death Eater again, and --"
"Gin ... he's not a Death Eater any more," Dean said. "And I doubt he ever really was, despite the Dark Mark."
Ginny looked like she was digesting his words. "Even so, it doesn't mean I have to like him."
"No, it doesn't."

He's a lot more than just a FRIEND, Ginny. LOL
She irritates me. Part of me wants to feel sorry for her ... she did get dumped for Harry's once upon a time worst enemy but I can't seem to muster up any sympathy for her. Oh well. H/D are living in bliss and that's all that matters. Ginny can have Dean. :)
Thanks for the update! I'm loving this story more with each new part!

Date: 2008-02-06 03:33 am (UTC)In yet another RPG I was in (playing Ginny again - and this was a long time ago, way before Harry/Ginny was even canon) I had an argument with the Draco player who wanted to murder Arthur and Ginny (Ginny purely because she was Arthur's daughter and therefore also a bad apple - I think Arthur was a power happy arsehole MOM at the time.) This person couldn't understand why then Ginny wanted to murder Draco because he was Lucius' son and therefore must also be an arsehole DE.
I think I won that altercation...
But I digress.
Yay for Dean.
Yay for Dean/Ginny.
and I also adore Blaise/Ginny...
Loving it!

Date: 2008-02-06 03:41 am (UTC)She is right about one thing, she doesn't have to like him. Just like we don't have to like her. (So there) Why Dean is chasing her down I have no idea. Seamus is spot on with his Ginny!Drama analysis. Go Team Seamus! Here's hoping someone has jinxed her broom *raising glass in a silent toast*. Except that might make Dean sad, and I really like Dean. *is conflicted*
BTW, thanks for friending me back. I just love your writing and am really enjoying this. I think you are CRAZY talented! Thank you for the update.

Date: 2008-02-07 05:05 pm (UTC)Fair enough, the fact that her friends were reprimanding her does seem a bit hypocritical, but it was nice to see all the Gryffs on Draco's side. :)

Ah! Ginny can have Dean, as long as Harry and Draco get to live the land of pink puppies and purple unicorns!

Date: 2008-02-19 04:45 am (UTC)I don't like Ginny
Draco is not his father and what ever his father tried to do to Ginny has nothing to do with him
And Draco is not a DE anymore, if he ever really was, and he is trying to make amends
people can't hold the past against like that, it was a war and each side thinks they are right and people have to chose a side and for some there isn't a choice
excellent
