"What are you two doing?" Draco asked.
"Drawing snowflakes in the frost," Cecilia replied happily.
Frowning, he suggested, "We have parchment and quills; we even have pens, pencils, crayons, markers, and all manner of Muggle materials from your Uncle Dean to be artistic with. Whatever do you want to draw on the window for?"
"I like the feel of the frost under my nails. It makes it feel real," Alexa explained.
"Real?"
"Yes. I feel like I'm carving something out of winter. Like I'm part of the season."
Harry smiled as he watched the exchange, and how Draco's face lit up in amazement. Wrapping his arms around his husband, he whispered, "Isn't it wonderful that we finally get to experience what childhood is like?"
Draco smiled, kissed his husband, then joined their daughters in creating a masterpiece on the glass.

Date: 2007-12-05 06:54 am (UTC)I love your icon. That's pretty much how my oldest feels every time there's snow. Definitely a winter baby!

Date: 2007-12-05 05:44 am (UTC)That line just made me really happy. It was so wonderful. How you manage to say so much in so few words awes me completely.
Excellent job! Thanks for sharing.
And your daily dose of Tom Welling, as a thank you for the fic:

Date: 2007-12-05 06:58 am (UTC)Well, it's not quite like that here, but all of us like to draw in the frost, so it sort-of is, I guess (I'm the one that actually loves the feel of the frost under my nails). Though I suspect the boys would be drawing monsters attacking stuff rather than snowflakes and winter scenes. *g*

Date: 2008-06-13 05:13 am (UTC)I'll admit I think this one is my favourite of this verse too. I keep revisiting it once in a while, so I'm sure there'll be more in the future. As a matter of fact, I have quite a few fics on my to-do list and I believe another one or two installments are forthcoming. :o)
