"What are you two doing?" Draco asked.

"Drawing snowflakes in the frost," Cecilia replied happily.

Frowning, he suggested, "We have parchment and quills; we even have pens, pencils, crayons, markers, and all manner of Muggle materials from your Uncle Dean to be artistic with. Whatever do you want to draw on the window for?"

"I like the feel of the frost under my nails. It makes it feel real," Alexa explained.

"Real?"

"Yes. I feel like I'm carving something out of winter. Like I'm part of the season."

Harry smiled as he watched the exchange, and how Draco's face lit up in amazement. Wrapping his arms around his husband, he whispered, "Isn't it wonderful that we finally get to experience what childhood is like?"

Draco smiled, kissed his husband, then joined their daughters in creating a masterpiece on the glass.

I feel like I'm carving something out of winter.
What a beautiful sentiment and turn of phrase...

I hope you work out, woman, 'cause you're always getting these cookies! :D

And thanks for the sweet comment. ♥

And unfortunately, no, I have not been working out.
*sighs*

Thanks. ♥

I love your icon. That's pretty much how my oldest feels every time there's snow. Definitely a winter baby!

That line just made me really happy. It was so wonderful. How you manage to say so much in so few words awes me completely.

Excellent job! Thanks for sharing.

And your daily dose of Tom Welling, as a thank you for the fic:

Awwww, such a sweet Christmas family scene. *grins goofily*

(If these scenarios are based on your children, they sound adorable. :D)

Thanks. ♥

Well, it's not quite like that here, but all of us like to draw in the frost, so it sort-of is, I guess (I'm the one that actually loves the feel of the frost under my nails). Though I suspect the boys would be drawing monsters attacking stuff rather than snowflakes and winter scenes. *g*

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww... your boys sound creative, if they're able to draw monsters in the windows. :)

I've just read your ficlet where Cecilia insists on being called "Noel", I hope your son's never tried that one on you! *g*

Hee! You should see the inside of my car sometimes when the windows get frosted over! And we have big sliding glass doors that are forever used as canvasses.

Nope ... my guys have never taken to being called anything but their own names. Thank goodness!

Perfect! I love it!

Awww. Lovely and warming. Children are the wisest sometimes.

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm ... and they bring us back to our own childhoods.

Your icon! That's their window! :D

What a wonderful family, and what beautiful prose!
This was gorgeously written, darling...
Made my chest feel tight and my eyes well up...

Very, very well done!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much, sweetie!

[identity profile] kaykayen.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely. You draw a lovely scene. But this line: Isn't it wonderful that we finally get to experience what childhood is like? killed me. That they didn't experience childhood as children is heartbreaking; but that they do get to experience it finally, and together (as husbands and fathers), is brilliant.

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon.

[identity profile] lijahlover.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 12:06 am (UTC)(link)

Aww, that's so precious! What a lovely, happy family!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Draco and Harry deserve that kind of family happiness. ♥

[identity profile] sassy-cissa.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww...that's just so sweet.

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I liked writing it too.

[identity profile] winstonmom.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
I loved this one :) I really liked Harry's comment about finally experiencing childhood the way it's supposed to be, and it is better because they are doing it through their daughters eyes.
PS/ I so love this universe.

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks ♥

I'll admit I think this one is my favourite of this verse too. I keep revisiting it once in a while, so I'm sure there'll be more in the future. As a matter of fact, I have quite a few fics on my to-do list and I believe another one or two installments are forthcoming. :o)
