"And what is Newton's third law of motion?" Draco asked.

"For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction," Stephen replied.

"Very good," continued Draco. "Now what does that mean?"

"What on earth are you teaching our son, Draco?" Harry interrupted.

"Newton's laws of motion, Dad," Stephen told Harry. "Well, the first and the third one anyway. Pop says the second one is a hard concept to grasp, and I'm a bit young yet for that." He beamed at Draco.

"And why," Harry continued, looking sceptically at his husband, "might you be teaching our son physics?"

"Surely you don't expect him to start at Hogwarts completely uneducated?" Draco asked incredulously.

"Of course not, but I thought you might be more inclined to teach him spells and potions rather than Muggle science."

"It's all education, and despite my former misgivings about all things Muggle, there have been some valuable contributors, such as Newton."

"I don't know, Draco. Isn't that still a bit much for him?"

"Would you rather I teach him what Lucius taught me before school?" Draco asked, lifting an eyebrow in challenge.

"Right," Harry acknowledged. "Carry on, then."

What was the first one again?
I was horrible at physics:)
p.s. nice one=)

An object in motion tends to stay in motion; an object at rest tends to stay at rest. Or some variation on that.

The second one deals with velocity and force and mathematical calculations.

Oh, and thanks.

Draco's right. Lucius teachings, with the possible exception of quidditch, should have been a total no-no for any child.

*grins* - I'd even be wary of his Quidditch teachings. *shudders*

As a high school science teacher, I say Thank you Draco!! Anyone who gets kids interested in science is tops in my book!

Hee! We LOVE science in our house. Bill Nye and other shows that make science fun were always tops around here when my guys were younger. Science holds a special place in my eldest's heart. ♥

Ahahaha, I love Draco's last retort. ;D

Actually, I think the second law of motion is quite logical... it's the third one that always confused me, in terms of relating it to practical application. *is trying to remember high school science* :*

Go Draco!

And yeah, the third one is difficult to relate, but the concept itself is something that can be introduced at a younger age in its basic form (e.g. if you push your arms forward against a wall, your body moves backwards with the same amount of force as you are exerting on the wall, only in the opposite direction, unless another force [e.g. something is behind you] interferes).

I think the second one would be too advanced (e.g. formulas, math) to introduce too early, though the concept seems far more applicable and 'logical'.

At least that's kinda how I see it.

Mmm, that is true I guess. The third one used to confused me, because in relation to walking along the floor (for example) I could never figure out what the 'opposite reaction' was. :/

But you're right, the second formula only makes sense once you've done a few years of maths and algebra, which I don't think Stephen has... but look, you've written another learning fic! I'm recalling high school science thanks to you, and [livejournal.com profile] prettyhairs has definitely learnt something. :D

Funny, but when I resigned, my boss immediately told me I should go into teaching. :o)

Apparently she missed the part about writing. *shrugs*

Brilliant and sneaky. He'll have his dads' penchant for sneaking out and getting into things, plus he'll have the Marauder's Map and Invisibility Cloak. Look out Hogwarts!

Oooh, and I'd say he's gorgeous and might just be good at Quidditch. *nods*

Wonderful! Like the way Draco shut Harry up! And hey! He's teaching him there's more out there then just the wizarding world!

I think Harry was just shocked that Draco of all people would be teaching Muggle subjects. *g*

And yeah ... great way to shut him up. *nods*

Thanks. ♥

Hee! Your icon is adorable. *squishes it*

Yeah, when Draco gets over his whole pureblood thing (well, maybe not the superiority, but at least the need to dispose of all things Muggle) he's sweet.
