"I don't think this is such a good idea, Harry."
"Sure it is. He decorates everything in this house. This is something I want to do for him."
"Harry, there's a reason he does everything," Hermione suggested. "He's good at it. He has ..."
"What? What does he have that I don't?"
"A sense of style, mate."
"Ron, did you just compliment Draco?"
Harry watched as Ron's lips formed a thin line - a sure sign he was wanting to swallow his words. Then he shrugged his shoulders, saying, "Just telling it like it is."
Harry scowled at them both. "Well I'm doing this with or without your help."
"Relax, mate. We're here, aren't we? Just ignore Hermione. Of course we'll help you decorate the study. So ... what have you got in mind?"
Four hours later, the three of them admired their handiwork, as the warm scarlet and gold tones blended with the dark wood of the desk, cupboard and bookshelves. "Excellent," Harry announced. "Thanks for all your help."
"No worries. It was actually fun. So, you'll tell us how the ferret likes it, then?"
"About that, Harry ..." Hermione began.
"Leave off, 'Mione. You've made your point. Besides," Ron grinned, "I want to see how he --"
"But Gryffindor colours, Harry?" Hermione sounded almost desperate.
"Yeah, well ... about that." He grinned at his friends. With a wave of his wand, all the gold in the room turned to silver and the red turned to green. The effect was immediate and spectacular. "You don't seriously think I'd put my Slytherin boyfriend in a Gryffindor study, do you? I was just having you on, Hermione."
"Harry," Hermione said, looking at him with narrowed eyes, "I think Draco may have taught you a few things after all."
"Oh, Hermione ... you have no idea."

Date: 2007-10-23 02:34 pm (UTC)Hermione *mock-surprise*: "What makes you think that?"
Ron: "I despair for my immediate future."
Hermione: "Let's go home and I'll show you just how much of an idea I have."
Harry: "Uh... mates? The key word was 'home'."
Hermione: "Spoil sport."
Draco: "Are they gone at last?"
Harry: "Yes you can come out now."
Draco: "I like what you did with the place. A nice desk... and at a good height, too..."
Harry *rolls eyes*: "Well, neither of us works. What else could we use a study for?"
