Title: No Muggle Toys Allowed
Author:
sesheta_66
Rating: G
Word Count: ~ 325
Pairing/Characters: Harry/Draco, their daughters Alexa & Cecilia, Hermione
Challenge:
awdt's prompt of "How do you use this thing?" (back in June) and for
harrylovesdraco's July prompt - "If you jiggle it a little, it will open."
Summary: Hermione brings the girls a little gift from the Muggle world.
Disclaimer: The characters contained herein are not mine. They belong to JK Rowling and her publishers. No money is being made from this fiction, which is presented for entertainment purposes only.
Author's Note: I am reviving the characters of Alexa and Cecilia, who are Harry and Draco's daughters, for this amusing little story.
"How do you use this thing?" Alexa asked Hermione, calling from her room. Hermione went and showed Alexa how to work it, then left her and Cecilia to enjoy their new toy. A little while later, the girls emerged from their room, huffing about it being stuck.
"If you jiggle it a little, it will open," Hermione explained.
Alexa tried to jiggle it, but nothing happened. "Papa, will you help?" she pleaded, handing the toy over to Draco.
"I can help you, sweetie," Hermione jumped in, reaching for the toy.
Draco pulled it out of her reach and scowled. "I'm quite sure that I'm capable of getting this Muggle contraption to work for my daughter, thank you very much."
Hermione rolled her eyes and chanced a glance in Harry’s direction. He suppressed a grin as if he sensed what was coming. "If he says he can do it, 'Mione, then let him do it."
Draco, clearly seeing Harry's ill-hidden smirk, rewarded him with a patented Malfoy glare. He shook the toy a little, but nothing happened.
"Maybe if you turn --" Hermione suggested, before she was cut off.
"Yes, yes," Draco said impatiently. He grasped the handle, turning it minutely, and "POP!"
Draco flung the offending object across the room as he let out a decidedly girly noise, somewhere between a screech and a scream. "What … the … hell … is … that … thing?!" he bellowed.
"Draco … language," Harry admonished, desperately trying not to burst into laughter.
It wasn't so easy for Hermione. She was apparently incapable of controlling herself, as she toppled off her chair, giggling, clutching her sides. "That, my wizard friend," she said between giggle fits, "is a Muggle jack-in-the-box."
After Cecilia and Alexa went to bed, still chuckling about Draco's reaction that afternoon, Draco turned to Harry, speaking with an eerie, Snape-like tone. "There will be NO MORE Muggle toys allowed in this house. EVER."

Date: 2007-08-24 12:13 am (UTC)Hermione tried to help, so she felt quite okay about collapsing into a giggle fit afterwards. Hee!
I'm sure Harry will comfort Draco. No worries there.

Is this a fic journal or do you write personal entries here as well?

Date: 2007-08-24 12:24 am (UTC)I rarely put anything personal on my journal, unless I do something really stupid (like almost burn down my house) or really interesting (like attend Prophecy, or travel in Britain).
