Hermione had grown tired of Ron’s incessant complaining about Harry’s decision.
Yes, Snape had killed Dumbledore, but on Dumbledore’s orders. Snape hadn't wanted to do it, but he did, he kept his word to his mentor, his defender. Living with that was Snape's punishment for all he had done in his lifetime. More punishment than many could bear. At least Ron had let up on his rants about Snape lately.
But Malfoy he just wouldn't let go. He whined and complained constantly about Harry's open invitation for him to stay there - indefinitely. Sure, Hermione had questioned Harry's motives, and at first his sanity, but he had made some valid points during his many arguments with Ron on the subject.
Yes, Draco had attempted to kill Dumbledore, and in the process had nearly killed Katie Bell and Ron ... but he was acting to save his family, and felt he had no other choice. No, they would not have made the same decision, but then again ... maybe they would. Who knows what you are capable of until you are faced with the same situation? A mile in someone else's shoes ...
No, Hermione did not think that Draco deserved for everyone to accept him and move on as though nothing had happened. But she did agree with Dumbledore. After all, who is anyone not to deserve a little forgiveness?
All the same, she was not planning to let her guard down - just in case.

Date: 2007-08-17 11:42 am (UTC)I am wondering how Ron, Neville, and Hermione and any others will feel when Harry's decision is vindicated. It will be vindicated, right?
