Draco thought he had known hate. After all, he had grown up with Lucius as a father, and Death Eaters had been known to frequent Malfoy Manor. Hatred of all things Muggle was commonplace, and he himself had been on the receiving end of hatred towards homosexuals.

But this was worse. The venom that was directed at him by Ginny Weasley ever since Harry had announced their engagement knew no boundaries. Draco wasn't sure why she hadn't said anything during the year preceding their engagement, but he suspected that she had simply thought that it was a passing phase. Something Harry would get over. Something that he had to get out of his system before going back to her. Because there could be no doubt in anyone's mind that Ginny had expected to marry Harry, even after all this time.

And, as the saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Only she had never blamed Harry, never directed her anger towards him. No, it was all about Draco.

"You are a pathetic excuse for a human being," she had told Draco one time when she had cornered him in Diagon Alley. "What Harry sees in you is beyond me."

"A penis for starters," was his retort. After all, it was true. She had smacked him in the face and run off crying.

The next time was at a family function at the Burrow. Draco had tried to get out of it, but was quickly reminded that the Weasleys were Harry's family and, though grudgingly, Harry had been to the Manor for tea with Narcissa on numerous occasions. She had managed to corner him coming out of the loo, calling him a "sick fuck who was corrupting the greatest wizard alive."

That time Fred or George - he couldn't tell which - had heard her.

"What the fuck, Gin?!" he had said to his sister.

"It's only Malfoy," she replied. Draco rolled his eyes and went to go back to the party, but lingered just out of sight to hear the rest of the conversation.

"No, Gin. He's not ‘only Malfoy'. He's Harry's fiancé and Harry is family. That makes Draco almost family too."

"That scum will never be my family."

"Gin, even if he weren't going to marry Harry, he is a guest in our home."

"I don't care. I hate him, and he's no good for Harry. I am going to do everything in my power to prevent that wedding from ever taking place."

Draco went back to the party with a deep feeling of foreboding looming over him.

I just started reading this story today, I love it! Now, I actually like reading stories where Ginny is a sane and normal person because I feel that the fandom does a much better job with her then Jo did. However, a guilty pleasure of mine is Ginny being a deranged psycho stalker of Harry's :P

I know there's a certain effect that you want to give to the readers but 'Something Harry would get over.' is not a sentence. You might want to rewrite that.

dklgjldsdgsg; GINNY. I am going to say something about 'why-bash-Ginny-wtf' but then again, I'll become a hypocrite. I hate her, but still..

I think this fic is leaning towards Ginny becoming the 'enemy of everyone' and well, it's kind of overused. She's been on the receiving end of jealousy fics (I think) ever since she started out her relationship with Harry in book six. It's a bit commonplace for me. Why not Luna? Hermione (just a I'm-a-caring-friend!)? Mrs. Weasley? Mad-Eye? Dobby? umm.. whoever? It'd put a new twist, a twist that isn't so common.

I also wonder why Draco didn't retort when he was called 'a sick fuck...' It's just not Draco, imo. =/ Did Harry change him? I don't think Harry can completely change Draco's behavior and make him absorb the hate/rant/bash (especially Ginny who was a long-time rabid fan of Harry) directed towards him. We love Draco because he is Draco. He might act all kind and (at least) polite to others when he's with Harry, but he's not the one to carry it even when Harry's not around. Remember Draco and Umbridge? He acts all 'I-am'the-model-student' in front of her but he still keeps making pranks when she's not around. Same with Harry.


Sorry. I was just on a concrit high from reading too many rants. ><; Please continue; I wasn't being snarky, was I? If yes, then I apologize. I really love your fic though; short yet concise. Just keep them in IC--well, some of them. XD

I realize that I used a sentence fragment (likely not the only one) and it was intentional, for effect (literary license). I am actually a grammar fanatic, so grammatical 'mistakes' such as sentence fragments are intentional in my writing and used for emphasis. But thanks for pointing it out ... if it weren't intentional, I would definitely correct it.

I use the 'common twist' of Ginny being jealous because she is the most likely to be jealous. Much more 'in character' than others. I believe that's a big part of the reason it is a 'common' plot device ... because it's more believable than someone else, who wouldn't likely be as jealous. Ron is the other one who often interferes, because he has always hated Draco, has a volatile personality, and is Harry's best friend.

Draco didn't retort because he wasn't visible. He was listening to a conversation, and the participants were not aware of his presence. He is a Slytherin who takes in everything and retains it for later use. This is also an adult Draco who, I believe, would have grown up enough to keep his emotions more in check (though not entirely)than the volatile one we see in the earlier books. Remember in book seven he is forced to hold in his emotions with Voldemort present, so he's had practice. Then as an adult he would have had more practice. So no, I don't believe Harry would have 'changed' Draco - I completely agree with that. I simply believe that he is no longer a child.

I hope that clarifies my reasoning on those points, and that you'll continue reading this.

Hey, as long as it's constructive, bring it on. As a writer, I know what I mean, but sometimes it's helpful to hear other people's take on it ... gives you someone else's perspective, which you can choose to act on, consider for the future, or disregard entirely.

They'd stick up for someone they love (in this case, Harry), to ensure his happiness. But they are also reasonable, and aren't afraid to tell someone they love (in this case, Ginny) when she's being a twat. *g*
