It was just a spring fling. At least that's how I had thought of it. The war was over, the snow was gone. We were left wondering what was next, and we were grateful to be alive.

I knew it wouldn't last. After all, who was I? The son of a Death Eater. A Death Eater who had tried to kill him on more than one occasion. Never mind the fact that I too had made his life miserable.

So when he kissed me, I was stunned, to say the least. That he had wanted me in that way surprised me. Sure, I had thought about it, but hadn't everyone? I mean, who didn't want him? He was the bloody hero. The one whom witches and wizards alike lusted after. Of course, they wanted the hero. I just wanted Harry.

I suppose that was the appeal for him. Oh, I am a catch in my own right, to be sure. But I am not, and have never been, in his league.

That's why it surprised me when our spring fling turned into a summer romance. Yes, that's right - romance. The sex remained phenomenal (I mean really, we are talking about Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy - of course the sex was great), but something else had begun to blossom.

It wasn't flowers and chocolates, but it most certainly was romance.

We talked a lot. Yes, talked. At the risk of sounding clichéd, I would describe those days as a time of discovery for us both. Thoughts, feelings, opinions, hopes, dreams, fears -- we talked about them all. He had been surprisingly easy to talk to. He never judged me, nor did I judge him. We had done enough of that -- far too much -- in the past. Suddenly our differences had become insignificant.

After that, for some unfathomable reason, he did not leave.

I smile now as I look over at Harry, content as he breathes in the ocean air. Fifteen years it has been. He's my spring fling that never ended.
