"Shoot me now," grumbled Draco as he sat transfixed by the image of Lucius Malfoy, dressed in nothing more than low-rise jeans, leather chaps, cowboy boots, spurs, and a ten-gallon hat.
Said image was being transmitted to the room at large, which included a disquieted Draco Malfoy, a bemused Blaise Zabini, a positively pleased Pansy Parkinson, a mesmerized Millicent Bulstrode, an undignified and giggling Gregory Goyle, and as always a vacant Vincent Crabbe.
Several weeks ago, Lucius had announced that the Death Eaters were going on a field trip of sorts, to regroup, strategize, and other such things. Only the upper echelon were to attend, so Draco was left at home.
It turns out that their trip took them to Dallas, Texas, and one evening Voldemort himself staged a bit of entertainment for the troops. Who would have guessed he had it in him? The Dark Lord thoroughly enjoyed the famous Wizarding Idol show, and decided to put on his own version of it, as a bit of relief from all the hard work they were doing. To top things off, for some unknown reason (okay, it was for potential blackmail - they were Death Eaters and Slytherins after all), a recording was made.
That was how it came to be that Draco and his friends were gathered in Blaise's sitting room, watching the events of that night unfold. A Muggle television had been altered to play magical recordings, and somehow Goyle had managed to obtain a copy of this one.
Horrified by the shirtless image of his father on the big screen in front of him, Draco's dread only deepened as the usually well-refined patriarch of the Malfoy family started to sing. Oh, but he didn't just sing any song, noooo. He was singing a Muggle country music song. Oh, the abject humiliation!
Draco couldn't believe the sight before him, and clearly neither could any of his friends. He watched as Lucius danced around the stage (since when did his father know Muggle dance steps?), and belted out the song. He was getting right into it, as he walked to the edge of the stage and began pointing to his companions, shaking his hips.
"I've got friends in low places ..."
