State of the Insanity - June 26, 2008

I haven't done a State of the Insanity post for a while. Since I'm going to be away for a couple of weeks, I figured it was about time I did one. It's basically a summary of what I've been busy with for the past few months, and might go a little way towards explaining why I'm so behind on everything.

If you've missed anything because of the gazillion fest fics out there, I have compiled my recent fics in one neat package. Links are provided under the cuts.


Fest Updates:

They're all done!!! Woo-hoo! I had eight fests to write for, and they are all completed now. Here they be:

1. Protecting One's Future for hds_beltane (part 2 for 2007 fest) [H/D, 7,660 words total of both parts, PG-13]
2. Lost Time (+ epilogue) for slashfest [H/D, 6,650 words, PG-13]
3. The Strongest Force for slashfest [H/D, 12,200 words, 14+]
4. The Affairs of Men for hd_worldcup (Team EWE) [H/D, 17,500 words, Hard R]
5. Pheromones, Friends and First Times for hds_beltane (2008) [H/D, 12,600 words, NC-17]
6. Communication Breakdown for hp_rarities [Harry/Pansy, Neville/Luna, Charlie/Tonks, 7,300 words, PG-13]
7. An Auror in Wolf's Clothing for hd_inspired [H/D, 11,000 words, PG-13]
8. ????? for the_ass_fest [AS/S, ???? words, ????] - still anonymous!

I intended (yes, past tense) not to sign up for any other fests until hd_holidays, but ... but ... did you see the latest hd_inspired post? After narrowing it down from 35 prompts, I signed up for it. *is hopeless*

So ... with the exception of an outstanding late request for icyaurora8, which I will not be able to get done before I leave (though it's about halfway done), that brings me current to the end of March. *fails* I hope to finish all the April (and May?) birthday fics by the time I return from Calgary/Edmonton, so you can expect a fic dump when I return. :o)



Wizard of the Month Updates:

Yes, these fell woefully behind, but something had to give, and this series was one of my casualties.

I think that's about it for now. Sorry for spamming your flists tonight, but I wanted to post the claim tables and get myself all organised before heading away.

I plan to write while I'm away, then catch up on reading when I return. That includes hds_beltane, hd_inspired, hp_rarities, the_ass_fest, and various postings for other challenges and in people's LJs.

Oh, and GO GERMANY!!!!! *hopes to watch World Cup final on Sunday*

*g* You've been a productive girl! YAY! I didn't claim a prompt for hd inspired. There were a few that were interesting, but nothing so compelling that I HAD to do it, which is a good thing really. I need to finish up what I'm already working on. I hate dragging things out so long and I have two plot bunnies that are just massive in scale and I want them mostly down on paper before I start to post. I can always tweak them as I go. Have fun on your holiday! Er... I'm sure you'll hear from me, but you can ignore me as you please. :-)

This fest is going to once a year, so this will be the one time. That's why I jumped on board. Of course, the 35 prompts that appealed to me helped as well. I have to admit, though, most that appealed to me I'd be just as happy to read (written by someone else) as write them myself. I just hope someone picks up my time-turner one. Of the three I posted, it was the last one to come to mind, it sprung up out of nowhere, and it's the one I want written most.

I think I can manage the one I selected AND hd_holidays in the next six months. Should give me a bit of time to get back to my WsiP. I really want to do The Missing Years which I haven't touched for ages.

Today is about cleaning up, doing laundry, making sure all the perishable food gets eaten/frozen/pitched, celebrating the end of school (a la Dairy Queen), and ensuring the boys get outta here to their dad's place. Oh, ya ... and shuttling drums back and forth between the house and the school *rolls eyes* and packing. Can't forget the packing. :o)

The day before you go away is always so busy, isn't it? I have 5 days off before I leave for Terminus, but I'm sure that Tuesday will still be crazy crazy crazy!

Thanks, hon. Just talked to my niece a little while ago - yay! I should have a great time.

*sighs* Hauling drums to and from the school for an impromptu rock concert was not planned for today.

I'm just checking one last time before I go back & finish up my packing. Almost done, but I have a load of washing with a few items I want to bring.

Must go toss the load into the dryer & get rid of perishables now. Oh, and make a nice pot of coffee. Mmm. Haven't had any yet today.

Yup. In fact, I'm in Calgary now! The prospect of driving around to sightsee right away didn't appeal to me, so I'm just relaxing for now. And look O.O I'm on LJ!

Connection's pretty slow, but it's working. I doubt I'll be on much, but my niece is at work for a few hours this afternoon, and what's a girl to do? Heh.

I'm already pleased because I saw her, and I look forward to spending the time with her. :)
