Harry and Draco spent a good deal of time poring over the various pamphlets the travel agency had provided, dismissing the low brow tours outright (Draco absolutely refused to rough it, even if it was in a resort or a cabin with plenty of modern conveniences).

After settling on putting their names on three separate waiting lists for exclusive vacation getaways at some point in the future, they settled on taking an international portkey to South Australia for a week. Harry had managed to convince Draco that two days in some posh resort would be wasted, since they were unlikely to come out of the room much in such a short time anyway.

While Draco protested this outright dismissal, Harry convinced him that the Bed and Breakfast they had found (a private cottage on a vineyard, actually) would be a perfect, private getaway for them to celebrate their first Valentine's Day together. It was only an hour outside Adelaide, so they could take in the sights there while staying outside the city. And they could enjoy taking in some winery tours while they were there, something Harry knew Draco would appreciate. They weren't by the beach, but the extensive lawns and gardens would provide a romantic setting for moonlit walks.

"And any needs the cottage doesn't provide for," Harry assured him, "I will."

"You'll be at my service?" Draco asked, eyebrow raised suggestively.

"Night and day," Harry assured him with a cheeky grin.

"Well, alright then," he relented. "I'll have to warn you, though ... some suggest that I'm a bit high maintenance."

Harry nearly fell off the sofa laughing at that. "Tell me something I don't know." Still chuckling, he added, "It's a good thing you're so gorgeous. It goes a long way to help make up for all the maintenance you require. Oh, and I suppose it helps that I love you."

"I hate you," Draco scowled at him.

Grinning and pulling Draco into a searing kiss, Harry growled, "Yeah, sure you do."

it must be amazing to be able to go skiing in the snow. the most we have here is rain and it's not fun to sing in as the movie makes out :\

Two places in the world I would consider as a 'dream vacation' - Australia and Hawaii. But now you mention the creepy-crawlies, I dunno ... that might freak me out a bit. I still want to go there, just maybe not to live.

what's hawaii like on the creepy-crawlies front? i always imagined it to be a dream vacation too and my dream vacations don't include nasty little bugs lol. i especially have nightmares about the fish that swims up your urethra O_O

Oh my goodness. Give me a minute here.

*recovers from urethra-inspired giggle-fit*

Singing in the Rain is my all-time favourite old movie! Yay! Anyway, skiing is great. We all prefer cross-country to downhill, so we can just drive ten minutes up the road to some great trails. The last two years weren't good, though (last year had too bitter weekends when my sons were with me, and the year before there wasn't enough snow). I think we should be okay for this weekend, so a Sunday family ski trip may actually happen - w00t!

Not sure about creepy crawlies in Hawaii. My sister (bitch) is currently there, so I'll ask her when she gets back.

::hides:: did i say it right? normally i just go with piss-slit and be done with it but i wanted to sound advanced lol.

a sunday ski trip. that sounds like a million miles from here (er... which it is, i guess.) i'd love to be able to just jump in the car for a bit and then go skiing (i've never even wore a pair). but on the other hand, i've witnessed through your journal entries how the snow can get out of hand (exactly how many snow days have the kids had, this term!? ;D)

*cracks up*

Most years, the snow isn't this bad, and being Canadian I do really like it. You know, in small doses. I've lost track of the snow days now, but the latest threat didn't become one, so they were in class all week (that's five whole days in a row - w00t)! It may be the first full week of classes they've had (my oldest anyway). Monday is a holiday, so a Sunday ski trip sounds perfect ... we can recover the next day by lazing about.
