"So, now that we've decided that we want to spend Valentine's Day alone together, where do you want to go? There's a beautiful hotel in Madrid where I stayed with my parents."
"No, I don't think so," Harry replied, rather quickly Draco thought.
"Why not?" he asked, trying to keep the irritation out of his voice.
"Think about what you just said." He looked at Draco as if willing him to read his mind.
"What? We stayed at a nice hotel in Spain. Do you have something against Spain?"
"Of course not. Well, actually, I've never been, but everything I've heard and read about it makes it sound very nice."
"So what's the problem?"
"You went there with your parents. I'd like to think we can come up with some place romantic that your parents didn't take you."
"Oh," he replied sheepishly. "I suppose that makes sense." They sat in silence for a while.
"Hermione told me about this place she and Ron went --"
"Stop right there!" Draco interrupted. "I don't want to imagine the weasel and Granger doing anything, thank you." He shuddered. "There's an image I'll have to scrub from my brain," he muttered under his breath.
Harry laughed. "Okay, no places that our friends or family have ever stayed. So what do you suggest?"
"Maybe we can pick up some brochures from a travel agency," Draco ventured. "Perhaps we could make a long weekend of it."
"Or even a week. We can certainly afford it."
Draco smiled broadly. "Really? We could go away together on a vacation?"
"Sure, why not?"
Draco was bubbling over with excitement. "Where do you want to go? Someplace skiing, maybe? No, that's too cold. Maybe a safari? No, one week isn't enough." He thought about how beautiful the Eiffel Tower was at night. "Ooh! Maybe Paris?"
"I don't really care where we go, to be honest," Harry replied. "I just want to go someplace warm, where we can spend the evenings outside. Someplace where we can go dancing under the moonlight and make love under the stars."
No sooner had the words spilled out of Harry's mouth than he had six feet of Slytherin pinning him to the sofa, smothering him with kisses.
"That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me. Who knew you could be so ... so ..."
"Romantic?" Harry offered.
"No."
"Sensitive?"
"No."
"Kind? Loving? Chivalrous?"
"No."
"Well what then?!" Harry asked in exasperation.
Grinning mischievously, Draco replied, "Articulate," then promptly ran from the room.
