"Well, boys and girls, that was interesting!" Seamus piped up after Harry and Draco had left.
Dean turned on his friend, glaring at him. "A bit much, don't you think?"
"What do you mean, mate?"
"I mean, a jealous shrew? That was out of line, and completely unnecessary!" Dean bellowed.
"C'mon, mate, you were all taking Malfoy's side."
"No, we were all pointing out that Ginny wasn't being fair. There's a difference, Seamus. What you did was just ... mean."
"Oh, and none of you said anything mean about Malfoy not so long ago?" Seamus answered defensively.
"Well, that's just it, isn't it? We all threw it out at Malfoy not long ago … well, everyone except Hermione here. How is what Ginny did so different? She's the consistent one here. She didn't change her tune towards Malfoy; the rest of us did. Then everyone turns on her for doing the same thing we were all doing weeks ago. I think she's probably feeling like not only Harry has dumped her for Malfoy, but the rest of us have too."
"I'm going to find her and talk to her," Hermione suggested.
"I'll come with you," Ron agreed.
"No, let me," Dean suggested. "I'd like to talk to her alone. I don't think she needs a lot of people chasing her down at once. Ron, I know you're her brother and all, but it's not like you get on that well, and you're not exactly known for your sensitivity." Seamus snorted. "After what just happened, she'll probably think we're there to bombard her some more."
Ron looked sceptical, but Dean saw Hermione give his arm a squeeze before they both nodded.
"Tell her I'm sorry," Seamus called as Dean was walking out the door.
"Tell her yourself!" Dean shouted as he left, in search of Ginny.

Date: 2008-02-06 12:37 am (UTC)But this was really excellent though! Dean's points were valid. I just don't tolerate Draco bashing. ;) So in my eyes, Ginny should've kept her paws to herself.
Thanks for the update!

Date: 2008-02-06 03:19 am (UTC)I played Ginny in a Harry Potter Big Brother RPG that was around a couple of years ago and man I copped it from 'viewers' every time I went anywhere near Harry or gave him a hug. I think there were even comments about killing Ginny. Personally, I felt terrible.
Now I know as a S/R shipper, I haven't always been nice to Tonks but I tend to ignore that phase of canon rather than play on it (much like I tend to ignore the prank and Azkaban.)
I love what you've done here.

Date: 2008-02-06 03:24 am (UTC)I don't agree with what Ginny said, nor am I defending her ... but the others shouldn't be so quick to judge when they were doing exactly the same thing (maybe not as harshly as Ginny, but still) not so long ago.
The next few will still deal with Ginny and that whole Gryffindor dynamic as it relates to H/D, so you'll see more of her.

Date: 2008-02-18 11:16 pm (UTC)Yes, Ron has come round since Christmas, and has accepted Draco as Harry's partner.
Yes, Dean is still smitten with Ginny ... and you're not alone ... many on my flist think she's a jealous shrew.
Thanks again for reading and commenting. :o)
