As Harry laid Draco down on the bed, he felt the blonde tremble in his arms. He'd been hit by a curse from a Death Eater, and Harry had Apparated them both to Grimmauld Place.

Harry gently placed Draco's head upon the pillow and gently brushed his hair out of his eyes. "It'll be okay," he whispered. "You're safe now. I won't let anything happen to you."

"Thanks," Draco replied, barely audibly, before he succumbed to sleep.

The next day when Harry went to check on him, he found Draco sitting in an armchair, staring out the window.

"Did you sleep well?" Harry asked.

"Why did you do it?" Draco asked. "Why did you save me, and why did you bring me here?"

"I guess I was in the right place at the right time. And it looked to me like you were trying to escape their side."

Draco nodded, frowned, and turned back to look out the window again.

"You up for breakfast?"

"Yeah, I think so. Give me a few minutes?"

"Okay, I'll see you downstairs."

Harry was almost out the door when he heard Draco say, "I've always wondered what it would feel like to have you touch me like that - with tenderness, instead of hate."

"What?"

"Last night, when you brought me here, you didn't just save me."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, your words were comforting, and your touch ... you were kind."

Harry blushed under his scrutiny and shrugged.

"Thank you, Harry, for everything."

Harry smiled. "You're welcome."

This was so awesome, and as soon as I read it, I had all kinds of thoughts to backstories, sequels, prequels...the bunnies are multiplying! You did a wonderful job with this...I was so busy with my son the past few days that I'm only now getting back online to LJ (had to watch the new Dr. Who Christmas special together).

Glad you enjoyed & yup, yup - we had a good Christmas. It's still going on, too, as I have houseguests here from Halifax (they're out right now, but will be returning in a few hours). Then I fly out to Vancouver to see my sister on January 1st, so I'll continue the celebrating for another few days after that too. :o)
