"Has everyone made their list of New Year's resolutions yet?" asked an enthusiastic Hermione.
Ron groaned. "I've broken every one I've ever made, so what's the point?"
"The point, Ronald" - she rolled her eyes and huffed impatiently - "is to make resolutions that are meaningful but also attainable."
Draco turned away as he saw Ron making faces when Hermione turned to the rest of the group.
"It's really important," she continued, addressing everyone, "that you have goals. Now that we're out of school, it's even more important. That way, it gives us something to focus on."
Later that night ...
"Harry?"
"Hmm?"
"I've been thinking about what Hermione said earlier, and I have to say that I agree with her."
"You ... what?!"
"Yes, well, I know ... wonders never cease. But she does have point. We should have something to come back to, something to use as a gauge to check on our progress throughout the year."
"We should?"
"Most definitely. And I agree that any resolutions we set should be achievable."
"Okay." Harry couldn't have sounded less interested.
"So I had a thought."
"Yes?" Harry looked at him warily.
"I resolve to not let our sex life get boring."
Harry laughed. "Okay, then."
"So I think we should resolve to do something different each month, just to keep things interesting."
Now he had Harry's attention. "Sounds good to me."
"How about we alternate? I'll come up with something for January, March, and so on, and you come up with something for February, April, etc."
"You're on!"
Casting Harry a wicked grin, Draco wrote down his first resolution.
Harry's smile faltered, and he was looking a bit worried. "Um, Draco. You do remember that these have to be things that are achievable, right?"
Draco narrowed his eyes and leaned forward, growling in Harry's ear, "Oh, it's doable, alright."

Date: 2007-12-31 01:17 am (UTC)I can imagine that one might worry about Draco's resolution, especially when it's accompanied by a "wicked grin" but I'm quite sure it will work out for both of them!
