Harry sat watching Draco read fairy tales to their two daughters, enjoying the lull just before the craziness of the season set it. Cecilia, their youngest, green ribbon tied in a bow atop her head, was excited about their Christmas dinner the following evening, and had been bouncing off the walls all day long. Draco had pulled out the one thing he knew would settle her. Cecilia loved fairies.
Alexa, on the other hand, having heard all the stories before, was getting restless. She hated the idea of hurting her Papa's feelings, so she sat feigning interest. Harry wasn't fooled.
"Well," Harry said, "I'm off to make the Christmas pudding for tomorrow's festivities." He gave a heavy sigh. "I had hoped to get some help with the cooking, but it looks like you three are quite busy yourselves. I suppose I'm on my own."
"I'll help, Daddy," Alexa offered. She and Draco had a special bond, as did Cecilia and Harry. It was nice to have some time alone with his eldest for a change, Harry thought.
Harry smiled as Alexa mixed the ingredients together in the bowl. Little moments like these, enjoying quite time with his family, were what made Harry so grateful, and made Christmas so special.

Date: 2007-12-24 11:07 am (UTC)What a lovely family scene, I'm sorry you're missing your children at the moment. *hugs you gently*
(Oh, we brought a Christmas log today too! *is excited* It's nowhere near as nice as yours, there's no whipped cream, but it's an ice cream log cake, so yummy! :D)

Date: 2007-12-25 04:36 am (UTC)Oh, and I was quite distraught. No whipped cream! They had whipped topping and Cool Whip (disgusting stuff), but no whipped cream. They had chocolate whipped cream, but since I'm not a choco-holic, that didn't appeal to me at all. *pouts* I may just have to get my fill AFTER Christmas! We'll have such a big dinner anyway, that cookies will be sufficient for dessert. We can get all the really good stuff later.
Thanks for the hugs. *hugs you back* I'm doing alright. I spent a large part of today frantically cleaning, and now I have a gazillion presents to wrap. Oh, and I also did two days' worth of the Prophet, so I had some lovely (and I mean totally amazing) H/D love to read as well. So it's 32 minutes until Christmas here, and I've managed to keep busy. *\o/*
My niece will probably call sometime in the next couple of hours (she's two hours behind), so we will probably end up chatting for a while. That's where I was going to be tonight, so it's the next best thing, I suppose. And we see each other in a week. Yay!

Date: 2007-12-25 04:53 pm (UTC)Don't feel distraught, they probably ran out of whipped cream after using it all on the log cakes. *pats you* You're certainly a bit late with the wrapping of presents though, which is odd because you seem like such an organised type normally. *looks suspicious*
Oh yes, you're leaving us in a week! *wails and clings to you* :( Heheh, srsly, you have fun with your sister and niece (and with

Date: 2007-12-26 12:03 am (UTC)But ... I didn't buy a log cake. So I have no whipped cream today. *sniffles* Then again, I'm so full right now without dessert that I'm okay for today. Maybe tomorrow.
Wrapping presents I usually do on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, to get me in the spirit, so it's intentional. Really. I swear. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Yes, you did congratulate me. Thanks. It's fun, but I can see why they needed the extra help at this time of year. Yeesh! The gift!fics over at hd_holidays are almost all really long now, which means it takes a long time to read each of them. Presuming some of the editors have lives, it would be impossible to read them all every day!

Date: 2007-12-26 04:57 pm (UTC)Awwww, whipped cream is good on a full stomach, so you were probably better off. *nods* Heheh, do you actually expect me to believe you wrap presents at the latest possible time to "get into the spirit"? *giggles* I'm not -that- gullible. :P
Well, I know you were all tired from the turkey and the editor reading, so I hope you had a nice rest. *hugs you* And thank you for taking the time to find fics so we can read them. I notice you rec'd two editor's choice. :)

Date: 2007-12-26 05:16 pm (UTC)*grins* Seriously, I do. Since I don't have the boys with me, it's rather a blah time for me, so if I leave the wrapping until then, it helps.
Had a good night's sleep, thanks. And yeah ... I enjoyed all the reading I did, but those two just stood out, despite them being vastly different. One was a hurt/comfort fic that was heart-wrenching and heart-warming. The second was hilarious, with a wonderful plot. I couldn't NOT highlight them both.

Date: 2007-12-27 04:48 am (UTC)After all, you had lovely fic reading, then Christmas with your boys, and you still get to see your sister... so yay! :D *cuddles you*
