"Thanks for getting me out of there," Draco said as they arrived back at Grimmauld Place.
"It wasn't that bad."
"Harry, with all due respect, she's a nightmare!"
"No, Draco, with all due respect, and no offence meant, your father was a nightmare."
"Point."
"Your mother is ... well, sweet."
Draco laughed. "Don't ever let Narcissa hear you say that! She'll hex off your bollocks in a heartbeat."
Harry chuckled. "You're probably right. Besides, I've never seen her be sweet before; I think she reserves it all for you."
"And, apparently you too."
"What can I say? I'm adorable." He batted his eyelashes for effect.
"Ha, ha. Very cute."
"Why thank you for noticing!"
"Shut it, you."
"Oh, seriously, she just loves you and wants to make sure no one hurts you ever again. She has good reason."
"But I'm an adult. Besides, you'd never hurt anyone."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Harry offered.
"Okay, I've seen you angry. But I know you'd never hurt me. Not any more."
"That's true, but your mother doesn't know that. We fought most of our lives, and you have the scars to prove it. You can't blame her for being wary."
"Fine, but that doesn't excuse her treating me like a child."
"She's your mother. You're her child."
"Look, Harry, I don't mean to be insensitive, but how would you know?"
"A mother would do anything for her children. My mother died for me. Your mother lied to Voldemort for you. Ginny's mother killed for her. And Molly Weasley dotes on every one of her children, including her dragon taming and curse breaking sons who are older that you are. Don't hate Narcissa for it."
"I don't hate her," Draco grudgingly admitted. "But I'm entitled to be annoyed with her."
"Fair enough. So stay here until she doesn't annoy you any more."
"Shall I go pack my things and move in now, then?"
"Very funny. How about a cup of tea?"
"Sure, thanks."
Draco followed Harry into the kitchen and took a seat at the table. "What are these for?" he asked, picking up a box of candy canes.
"Oh, I picked them up the other day for us to put on the tree."
"The tree?"
"Yeah, I thought our tree could use a little extra adornment."
"Our tree?"
"Of course, our tree. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even have a tree. You helped me find it, cut it down, bring it in, set it up and decorate it. It's as much your tree as it is mine." Harry smiled. "Every time I look at it, I think of you."
The words had just fallen out of his mouth without him thinking. Well, what else was new really? Harry could feel his face turn pink, so he busied himself preparing the tea.
He was shuffling things around so noisily, he only noticed Draco when he was right behind him. Harry could feel Draco's breath on his ear as he whispered, "And what exactly do you think of when you think of me, Harry?"

Date: 2007-12-23 05:54 pm (UTC)Don't talk of stars Burning above; If you're in love,
Show me! Tell me no dreams
Filled with desire. If you're on fire,
Show me! Here we are together in the middle of the night!
Don't talk of spring! Just hold me tight!
Anyone who's ever been in love'll tell you that
This is no time for a chat! Haven't your lips
Longed for my touch? Don't say how much,
Show me! Show me! Don't talk of love lasting through time.
Make me no undying vow. Show me now!
Sing me no song! Read me no rhyme!
Don't waste my time, Show me!
Don't talk of June, Don't talk of fall!
Don't talk at all! Show me!
Never do I ever want to hear another word.
There isn't one I haven't heard.
Here we are together in what ought to be a dream;
Say one more word and I'll scream!
Haven't your arms Hungered for mine?
Please don't "expl'ine," Show me! Show me!
Don't wait until wrinkles and lines
Pop out all over my brow,
Show me now!
*lol*
And I know my icon is from Mary Poppins, but I don't have a My Fair Lady icon...
