It was Draco and Harry's first anniversary as a couple, and Harry was anxiously awaiting the end of his workday, so he could go out for dinner with his boyfriend. He sighed as he glanced at the clock again. One thirty. Had he really only returned form lunch thirty minutes ago?
Just as he thought that, an owl carrying a large package flew into his cubicle. Harry untied the parcel and the owl flew away. He opened it carefully, and was intrigued by the contents. One dozen yellow roses and a package of chocolate. Smiling, he removed the note.
Harry,
I wanted to give you something for our anniversary that represented what you mean to me.
These days, the yellow rose has come to symbolize friendship. You are more than my lover, Harry, you are my best friend.
Historically, the yellow rose symbolized joy, wisdom and power.
You brought joy into my life when there had been little else but pain, and you continue to make me happy every day we're together.
You have opened my eyes to a much broader world, and you are wiser than most give you credit for.
Power is a dangerous thing in most hands, yet you wield yours with grace and restraint.
Oh, and the chocolate? That's for later. You know how I love the taste of chocolate and how I love the taste of you even more? Well, I plan to melt it down and drizzle it all over you. Then I plan to feast on you all night long, showing you in my own way just what you mean to me.
