"... then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say ... Rudolf with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

A few minutes later, the carollers had finished their song, and Harry and Draco bade them good night. After Harry shut the door, Draco asked, "What on earth was that song about anyway?"

"Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer," Harry answered simply.

"Yes, funny enough, but I managed to figure out that much all on my own," Draco replied, rolling his eyes. "I just wondered what the meaning of it was."

"It's about accepting people that are different."

"I fail to see the connection."

"Well, Rudolf was different, because he had a red nose, when all the others had traditional, black noses. They shunned him, and wouldn't let him --"

"Play reindeer games," Draco finished for him.

"Right. But then one Christmas Eve, the weather was very bad and Santa needed someone to guide the sleigh that could light the way."

"And Rudolf's red nose came to the rescue?" Draco asked warily.

"Yes."

"Harry?"

"Mm-hmm?"

"Why wouldn't Santa simply install lights on the sleigh?"

"Well, that's not the point --"

"On the contrary, it seemed that everyone gave the glory to this one reindeer, when there was a perfectly logical alternative just waiting."

"Yes, well --"

"I'll never understand Muggles!"

Awwwww... Draco.
Things don't always need to make sense for them to be right!

And now I'll have that song in my head all day long. (I love it!)

And then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say...

*cackles* As usual, Draco's unfailing logic has ruined the beauty of Muggle carols. >:D

(But seriously, awwww... I never saw Rudolph as a song about accepting people who were different. To be honest, I just saw it as a song about, well, reindeers. *g*)

Hee! Aww ... Draco's so cute. ♥

Really? You didn't get that message? Have you ever seen the TV special? If not, you MUST see it sometime. It's really rather cute.

Apparently, I'm still in "educate the flist" mode. ;)

This was very cute!

Thanks for writing and sharing!

lol! oh draco, i think it's best you and muggle traditions just stay well away from each other.

and i've never realised it before, but the correct lyrical version makes perfect sense compared to mine then one foggy christmas eve, santa came to stay (to which i thought, but where!? where did he stay?)

Hee! I love discovering new ways to sing old songs. *g*

Yeah ... Draco will interject logic at every turn.

BTW, just read your gift!fic to [livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissa and it had me howling. Picturing them in later years ... you rock!

haha, i bet he'd be the type of person to watch grease and be like "but how do they all know the words to the song if it's supposed to be spontaneous?" ;D

No doubt. *looks sheepish* I have thought that myself too, but it hasn't stopped me enjoying musicals. The strangest one had to be Dracula: The Musical, which I had very little hope for, but my friend dragged me to see it, in exchange for me dragging her to see Hamlet. But it was excellent! Who knew?

Did I mention the last time you used it that I find your icon brilliant? I mentioned a book to someone at work, figuring he'd enjoy it and he said, "I don't read." WTF?

Anyway, Draco is certainly logical, and is baffled by the idiocy of Muggles. Heh.

Thanks - I like it too :) Some people are incomprehensible - they seem actually proud of the fact that they don't read! The mind boggles.

I would be horrified to say something like, "I don't read." It's not like he can't ... he just chooses not to. I find that so odd. But then, I was reading so young and loving it, and our family just loves to read that it seems strange to me not to want to pick up a book. Ah, well.
