Winter Weather Woes (the original fic)
When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. That's how I felt after our first kiss. Yes, that's right. Our first kiss. I know, I know, it sounds so terribly clichéd. It also happens to be true.
We had gone out tobogganing, and we managed to get caught in a snow storm. Yes, we are wizards, so it was no big deal. We weren't going to die out there or anything. But we ended up in a small cottage on the property at Grimmauld Place, waiting for the storm to subside. We couldn't apparate in that weather, and the fireplace was not connected to the floo network, so we just stayed there for the day. It was tiny, cosy, and intimate.
We talked for a while, eventually fell asleep, and awoke all snuggled together. Something about that felt right. Then the most wonderful thing happened. When I eventually got up, Harry brushed a few stray hairs back off my face, and tucked them behind my ear. It was the smallest thing, really, but it felt so perfect. I leaned my cheek into his palm, and closed my eyes, savouring his touch. When I opened my eyes, it was to see Harry gazing at me with a look of such tenderness that it took my breath away. We looked into each other's eyes, and I could have sworn time stood still, and the rest of the world faded away. There were only the two of us in that moment.
Then it happened. He smiled at me and leaned in. I happily met him half way and our lips brushed in a soft kiss. Gentle at first, the kiss grew in intensity, as lips opened, tongues explored, and we savoured the taste of each other. The kiss lasted forever, but ended far too soon. My chest swelled with an emotion that I had never felt before, and when Harry smiled at me, I knew I loved him. At that very moment, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life loving him.
