scarlet_malfoy who unfortunately was unable to attend Wrockstock due to illness. It also fits my GJ 100_prompts table #079 - "Sickness."
Summary: Draco has to stay home sick while Harry goes out.

"You go on ahead, Harry. I'll be fine."
"No you won't - you're sick!"
"Yes, well, it's nothing requiring hospitalization so I'm sure I'll be fine on my own for a few hours."
"Are you sure?"
"Quite. Now run along and send my love to your godfather."
Harry rolled his eyes at that comment. Sirius had no trouble accepting the fact that Harry was gay - how could he when he was living with Remus? - but he simply could not tolerate Harry dating a Malfoy. Any Malfoy. Harry had tried numerous times to convince Sirius that not only was Draco most certainly not his father, but that he had changed since school. Hell, even Ron had come around, but not Sirius.
"Shall I shower him with hugs and kisses from you while I'm at it?"
"Ugh! I was feeling ill enough already." Harry grinned. "Do send my best to Remus, though, would you?"
"Will do. Now I've made some chicken soup and some tea for you, and you have some ginger ale and biscuits right here, blankets galore, and a bowl just in case."
Draco curled up on the sofa. "Thanks Mom," he grumbled, but Harry knew he appreciated the effort.
"I'll be home before you know it."
"M'kay," Draco said as his eyes began to close.
Good, Harry thought. He needs the rest. He kissed Draco on the forehead and headed out the door.
"Hey Remus, Sirius," Harry greeted them half-heartedly. They were standing on their own, neither of them choosing to mingle in the crowd. Harry had timed his arrival so that he would only have to 'network' for a few minutes before the sessions began.
It was a symposium on the Dark Arts, and they had all signed up one evening on a whim, but now it just didn't seem to hold the same appeal. Of course, Harry was pretty sure his lack of interest was due to Draco's absence. They had been quite excited about attending it together.
"Where's Draco?" Remus asked. Harry chose to ignore his godfather's look of relief.
"He's home sick."
"Nothing serious, I trust?" asked Remus. Harry ignored the hopeful look on Sirius's face.
"No, just the flu, but he can't seem to shake it. He's taken potions, but I suppose he'll just have to let it run its course."
"Ah, well, we'll all just have to carry on without him, as tragic as that thought may be." Sirius received a sharp elbow to his ribs from Remus for his sarcastic remark. "Ow!" Harry winked his appreciation.
As it turned out, the events of the day were informative, enjoyable and well-organized, making the symposium a resounding success. They had keynote speakers for both breakfast and lunch who thankfully did not learn public speaking from Professor Binns. Each were Aurors with plenty of field experience, and had much to add by way of experience as well as theory.
The sessions were interactive and fast-paced. Harry learned a few things about the latest and greatest technology in the field of dark detectors, as well as a few of the newer and nastier spells that never seemed to stop creeping up. Dumbledore had been right. There was no stopping the evil in the world - you just had to keep on fighting it. At least Harry felt satisfied in the knowledge that, for now anyway, there was no mastermind of evil for the masses to rally around now that Voldemort was gone.
There were testers handed out, and Harry was sure to bring home a full package for Draco (and some goodies he picked up on the way), so he wouldn't feel that he missed out on everything. He might not say so, but Draco really had been looking forward to attending. He always did like to keep up with what was new.
"Hi, honey, I'm home!" Harry called out in a sugary voice when he saw that Draco wasn't on the sofa.
Draco came into the room looking decidedly healthier than when Harry had left him that morning, although still a bit peaky.
"Potter," he snarled - Draco hated pet names. "I hope you realize that you're taking advantage of an ill man, and for that you shall have to pay!"
Harry chuckled. "Oh, yeah? What's my crime and what do you foresee as my punishment?"
"As you well know, if I were healthy, I would have hexed your arse for calling me honey, but in my current condition I will admit that I fear I might hex off your bits by mistake, and ... well ... they're nearly as important to me as they are to you."
"Awwww," Harry crooned and pulled Draco into a bear hug. "Did I upset my Drakey-poo?"
"Don't make me kill you!" he warned, though in his current state it didn't sound remotely threatening.
"You wouldn't kill me," Harry purred as he released his hold on Draco. "My bits are too important to you."
"Nevertheless, you are pushing your luck."
"I know, I know ... I'm just having you on." He gave Draco a soft kiss on the temple.
"When I am fully recovered," Draco said, attempting a Malfoy glare. He pointed a finger between Harry's eyes. "I will expect compensation for my suffering, you know."
"Yeah, I know." Harry shot him a feral grin, his eyes dancing mischievously. "In fact, I'm counting on it."
