"Did you hear that Viktor Krum is coming to town?" George asked.

"No, I hadn't heard," Ginny replied.

"Yeah, Ickle Ronniekins here just about wet himself when he heard."

"I did not!"

"Aww … it's okay. Hermione won't be jealous. You two parted on good terms, didn't you?"

At the sound of Hermione's name, Ron's demeanour changed. His body stiffened and a look of - was that jealousy? - came over him.

"I'm sure Hermione will be ecstatic that Viktor will be back," he said, distaste evident in his tone.

"You can't be serious!" George exclaimed. "You and Hermione split up ages ago, and you both agreed it wouldn't have worked. How can you be jealous of Krum now?"

Ron bit back his reply. How could he tell his brother that it wasn't Victor he was jealous of?

One week later, thanks to Harry, Ron found himself attending an after-game celebration. Viktor had played Seeker on the visiting team and Harry on the house team for an exhibition game for charity The visiting team had won by a narrow margin, Harry only just losing the Snitch to Viktor.

"So you are not vith Herm-o-ninny today?" Viktor asked Ron.

Immediately Ron's blood began to boil. "No. We aren't together anymore," he said through clenched teeth.

"Hermione is away visiting her parents," Harry offered.

Viktor smiled. "So it is just the men today then? Dis is good, no?"

Unable to prevent his face from breaking into a smile, Ron said, "Very good."

As it turned out, Viktor was, as Hermione had said, a very interesting man. He had detested Karkaroff and the Dark Arts, so he had learned what he could from the man and promptly got out.

Harry had been drawn away by one admirer or another, and Ron had happily spent the last two hours in Viktor's company. Interruptions had been frequent as adoring fans had come up to congratulate Viktor, but to Ron's astonishment and pleasure, he had brushed them all off rather quickly.

When the last witch had left looking rather stricken, Viktor sighed. "Vy don't they understand? I am not interested in the vomen. Can't they just leave me alone?"

"You … what?" Ron asked, surprised at both the news and Viktor's willingness to share it with Ron so readily.

"You know vot I'm talking about."

"Oh, yeah?" he said it as a question, because truly he wasn't entirely sure he did.

"You didn't? You don't? I thought … ve … ve vere having such a vonderful time. But you don't?" Viktor's face flushed red, and Ron wouldn't have believed it possible, but he looked even more delicious. "Sorry. I thought you … ve … never mind. I must have misunderstood."

Ron's heart did a flip and he smiled warmly at Viktor. "Why don’t we discuss this privately?" Ron suggested. Just before Apparating to his flat he wrapped his arm around Viktor's waist, grinned and said, "You understand perfectly, my friend."

You are quite welcome. I don't usually write that pairing (I almost exclusively write Harry/Draco), but they're Daddybear's favourite combination, so it was just for him. Glad someone else got to enjoy it too.

I think this is a perfect pairing. This keeps Harry safe for Draco, and if Hermione is going to mix it up with Pansy, then poor Ronniekins needs some lovin too.
