Part 15 - The Power of Magic:
"Harry? Harry, is something wrong?"
Harry's body stiffened, as the sound of Ginny's voice came from everywhere, and the look on Draco's face frightened him. He felt himself drifting away from Draco, out of his grip. "Draco!" he called, but it was too late. Draco was gone, and he was once again in the room where he had spent the past few months. And there was Ginny, ever present, looking murderous. Well, for once her expression mirrored Harry's feelings.
"I heard you talking," Ginny said. "Who were you talking to?"
"How am I supposed to know?" Harry snapped at her. "Obviously I was asleep!"
"Well I heard you say --"
"Is that what you do all the time? Every time I fall asleep? Watch me? Don't you have anything better to do? Gods, Ginny, can't you give me some space? You're smothering me!"
If looks could kill, Harry would certainly have been dead on the spot. Ginny was glaring at him, looking like she was about to spit nails. But Harry didn't care. He was beyond caring. The one time he had had contact with Draco -- even if it was only a dream -- she had interrupted. He was sick of it. Sick of her. And he didn't give a shit any more if she knew it or not.
"Of all the ungrateful --" Ginny began, but Harry was having none of it.
"Ungrateful?! Are you mad, woman? Did you forget that you kidnapped me? That you are holding me here against my will? Did you forget about that?"
"But we've made such progress!" she cried.
"Progress? What the fuck, Ginny?! You are still holding me here against my will. You can't honestly think I want to be here, can you?"
"But you said --"
"Yeah, well, I lied. I've been lying to you this whole time. I want to go home. Right now. I didn't want to hurt you, but I absolutely want out of here. So, Ginny, are you going to let me go or what?"
"Definitely 'or what' Harry," she said, advancing on him. "You're not going anywhere."
Harry felt as though something was pressing in on his mind, telling him not to resist. "You're insane," he said as pain shot through his head.
"Insane am I?" Ginny asked.
"Certi-fucking-fiable, Gin."
"I think you were talking to Draco. I think he somehow broke through and talked to you. Is that what happened, Harry? Tell me the truth."
The pressure on his mind increased. It was like a vice tightening on his mind, pressuring him to do as she asked.
"What if it was, Ginny? What if he did talk to me? You can't stop me loving him, you know."
"Oh yes I can," she said. "He has you under some sort of dark spell." The vice was tightening.
"You don't love him. You love me. Tighter still.
"No." Harry closed his eyes and breathed deeply, picturing Draco. "I." He could hear Draco's words Use your magic, Harry. "Don't!" Harry screamed, and an explosion went off in the room. Everything breakable shattered, every book went flying, and Ginny was thrown back into the wall in the hallway, knocked unconscious.
Harry didn't stop to see if she was okay. He made straight for the door, flung it open and didn't look back.
At once, all hell broke loose, as though a hurricane had swept in suddenly. Harry felt the wards sizzling around him as he heard the sound of Apparation all along the perimeter. Concentrating his anger, Harry marched towards the wards as they fell. An army of witches and wizards converged on the cottage as Harry looked around for a familiar shock of blonde hair.
"Harry!" screamed Draco. "You did it!" he called as he ran towards Harry.
Harry smiled, and calmly walked into the arms of his boyfriend and gave Draco a kiss that sent waves of pleasure through his body. When they broke apart, Harry corrected him. "We did it, Draco. You did all the research, you found me, you told me what to do, and then all I had to do was ... well ... lose it."
"Well, however we did it, at least it's done now."
"It was surprisingly easy, actually. I don't know why, but it felt like Ginny was prying her way into my brain, trying to convince me that I loved her, not you. It was the final straw. She's kept me here physically this whole time, but when she started trying to control my mind, I lost it."
"Oh, shit, Harry. I forgot." Draco waved his wand at Harry and said, " Expedio Praesentia!"
Harry felt a tingling sensation wash over his mind. A sudden clarity was left in its place. "What was that?"
"That," Draco explained, "was the spell to release your mind." At Harry's confused look, he continued. "Remember I cast a spell on you to open up your mind to suggestion? Just so that you wouldn't shut me out before I could get through to you, of course."
"Oh, of course," Harry said, giving Draco a dubious look. "Because you would never want control over someone's mind."
"Not yours, Harry," Draco said in all sincerity. "Never yours."
"Just so we have that straight, then." He gave Draco a winning smile.
"It seems you can fight it off anyway," Draco pointed out.
"Yeah, well, you know ... powerful wizard and all that rot," Harry said jokingly.
"Comes in handy, doesn't it?" Draco asked.
"Apparently."
Several Aurors came out of the house with a disoriented Ginny in tow. "But he's under a spell!" she was screaming. "I'm the only one who sees it!" she insisted. "It's Malfoy that you should be arresting, not me!" she cried.
"She's right, you know," Harry growled into Draco's ear. "You do have me under a spell." Draco raised his eyebrow at that pronouncement. "One from which I don't ever want to be set free."
Draco smiled and looked at Harry with hunger in his eyes. "What do you say we get going home, then, and see just what I can make you do."
Harry wrapped Draco in his arms, and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Absolutely," he said and Apparated them home.
