Title: The People Want to Know (PG)
Challenges: "spring" (Apr 22), "Veela" (Apr 29), and "Dirt" (May 6) and for
100quills prompt 022 - "People."
The people will love this! They'll lap it up! Rita Skeeter hummed merrily to herself. She was preparing her story for the morning's "The People Want to Know" article.
Spring Has Sprung for Saviour
Rumour has it that none other than Harry Potter, Saviour of the Wizarding World, and Most Sought-After Single Man, was seen at Edinburgh's Beltane Festival with none other than Draco Malfoy, son of confirmed Death Eater Lucius Malfoy.
Fret not, readers, for Rita Skeeter is on the case! I will get to the bottom of these rumours, and will be reporting back on this alleged romance.
Rita Skeeter looked at her article, very pleased with herself. If they won't give her a story, she'll just give them one!
Draco Malfoy is a Veela!
It has come to this reporter's attention that something is just not right! Of course, we all wondered when the story broke (see my article, last week) about Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy just WHAT our hero was thinking! Well, new evidence comes to light, and clearly thinking is not what he's doing.
Rita Skeeter will continue to investigate. Meanwhile, perhaps someone can free our hero from the clutches of a certain Veela.
Draco was seething! Harry hadn't seen him this angry since ... well, he hadn't ever seen him like this.
"How dare she!" he said as he threw the article down on the table and began pacing the room, arms flailing. "It's bad enough when she digs up dirt and prints it, but this ... THIS ... is rubbish!"
Harry chortled as he watched Draco.
"This is no laughing matter, Potter!"
"Why? Because it's you?"
"Because it's lies!"
"Unlike the truths you gave her back in fourth year?"
Draco just glared. Harry knew he'd pay later, but this was worth it.
Title: Choice of a Lifetime (PG-13)
Challenge: "choices"
Choices were a bit of a joke, as far as Harry was concerned. After all, what choices had he had growing up? Most had been taken away from him. First by Voldemort, then by Dumbledore, then by his aunt and uncle. In the end, he hadn't even had a choice about fighting Voldemort.
But this -- what he was doing today -- was all his. Nobody could take this away from him. Against all odds, and certainly against the advice far too many people were ready and willing to dole out, Harry had made his choice. His extremely unpopular choice.
As he looked up, Harry thanked whatever deities might have helped get him here. He was about to make "the worst mistake of his life" according to Ron, and he couldn't be happier.
Harry looked around at the crowd in the garden. The closest to family Harry had -- Remus and the Weasleys -- sat near the front. Friends and those he would never have thought could be friends were there. Harry was overwhelmed with emotion at the thought that they were all there for them.
He made his way to the front and took Draco's hand.
"Dearly beloved ..."
Title: Christmas With Narcissa (General)
Challenge: "family"
Harry was practically shaking as they approached the Manor for Christmas dinner. He hesitated as they were greeted by a house-elf.
“What’s wrong with you? We came to the front door as you requested, and didn’t Apparate directly inside. Now what’s wrong?”
“Your mother hates me.” Harry grumbled.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course she doesn’t hate you. She doesn’t even know you,” replied Draco, trying to reassure his fiancé.
“But I was so rude to her back in school.”
“Yes, well, I imagine she has forgiven you your little indiscretion by now.”
“But why would she?”
“Because now you’re family.”
Title: Trust Me (14+)
Challenge: "sweet and sour"
"Do you trust me?" Draco asked.
"Yes," came Harry's reply.
"Good, then come over here." He guided Harry into the kitchen, where he sat him in a chair. "Now I'm going to blindfold you." Harry gave him a quizzical look, but nodded his agreement.
"Now close your eyes, and I'll put this on you."
"Okay."
"Now open your mouth."
"Mmmm."
"What is it?"
"Sweet. Melon?"
"Right. Now this?"
"Bah! Lemon. Too sour."
"Right. And this?"
"Mmm. Garnish."
"Sorry?"
"Garnish. For you."
Draco removed the blindfold, leading an eager Harry to their bedroom, whipped cream in hand. The game could wait.
