Too Late For Love - Part 5
Draco woke to movement at his side. Instinctively, he tightened his arms and nuzzled closer.
The body next to his began to shake, and Draco thought he heard muffled laughter. "Relax," Harry said in a raspy but amused voice. "I'm not going anywhere. You don't have to hold on so tightly."
Draco's eyes fluttered open. He must have fallen asleep in the bed at St Mungo's. "Harry?" he asked, releasing his near-death grip to give Harry room to turn round.
"You'd better not have been expecting someone else," Harry replied. As Draco's eyes met Harry's, they both smiled. "I guess I missed dinner, then?"
"Forget dinner. How are you? Are you in any pain? What happened? Should I get a Healer?"
Harry stopped Draco's rambling as he often had over the years. With a kiss. As soon as their lips met, Draco relaxed for the first time since Harry had left weeks ago. This was where he belonged, where they both belonged. In each other's arms. In each other's lives.
"Harry, I'm so sorry. I should have told you how I felt before this. I should have --"
Harry shut him up again. Draco melted into Harry's embrace, their bodies fitting together just like pieces of a puzzle. No. It was more than that. Harry was part of him. Draco wasn't sure that he could exist -- not without feeling empty and incomplete -- without Harry by his side. Reluctantly, he broke the kiss.
"Mmm," Draco said, taking in the bemused look on Harry's face. "Not that I don't love this, but … we have to talk."
"Draco, I was wrong. I should never have left. I've been miserable without you." Harry bit his lower lip -- damn, he always did look adorable when he did that -- and looked hesitant. "My friends even told me, in no uncertain terms, that I'm an idiot."
What?! Draco couldn't believe what he was hearing. Perhaps Harry had hit his head when he got knocked down by the curse. Harry began to shake again with barely-controlled laughter.
"I know," he said, chuckling. "Even Ron. What was it he said? Something about living to regret what he was about to say, wondering how the hell I managed to become the high-maintenance one in our relationship, and something about you not being a girl."
Draco snorted. "Well spotted."
"No kidding. He asked me why I was with you if what I really wanted was some girl who wanted to talk about her feelings all the time."
"We are talking about the weasel here, right?"
Harry nodded. "And it didn't come from Hermione. For once, what he said about a relationship actually made sense. Go figure."
"But I do love you, Harry."
"I know you do," Harry said, placing a soft kiss on Draco's lips. "I guess I should have known all along."
Draco scowled. "Yes, you should have," he agreed. "But I know you, probably better than anyone else, and I should have known how important it is that you have reassurance of that, at least now and again."
"Yeah. I think that's what pushed me to leave. I guess I thought you would know, with my past, that I might not be so sure."
"Right. So now you know -- and I'll be sure to remind you from time to time." Draco leaned in and kissed Harry.
"I don't expect you to change for me," Harry insisted, looking serious.
"Not to worry. I won't. I don't plan on having long heart-to-hearts with boxes of tissue surrounding us any time soon. But this I can do."
Harry smiled and kissed Draco again. Soon it turned from a gentle brush of their lips to a heated snog and a melding of their bodies. Harry's hard length pressed into his thigh, and Draco was lost.
"Missed you so much," Harry growled. "Need you now."
Against his better judgement -- and to the objections of the voice in his head that was screaming Yes, now! -- Draco pulled away, panting. "Harry, I don't think that's such a good idea right now."
Harry, all hesitation gone, pressed his hand to the bulge in Draco's trousers, causing Draco to moan and thrust involuntarily into Harry's palm. Harry raised his eyebrows and smirked. "I think it's a brilliant idea."
Regaining control for a moment, Draco shot him a glare. "I will not be responsible for you over-exerting yourself without first getting a clean bill of health from a Healer."
Harry's smirk turned into a leer as he rubbed Draco's erection. The friction of Harry's hand and the material preventing direct contact was maddening. It had been so long and it felt so good. Harry felt so good. One look into Harry's lust-filled eyes and Draco knew he'd lost. And Harry knew it too, if the shit-eating grin on his face was any indication.
"Fine," Harry said. "I'll take responsibility. It's not like it would be the first time I left hospital before being officially released." He kept up a slow rhythm, resisting the urge to ride Harry wildly. Their fingers were intertwined, and they were staring into each other's eyes with an intensity that was almost frightening. Draco could feel their magic thrumming around them.
"You okay?" Draco asked, hoping it wasn't too much for Harry, and not so sure he could stop now, even if he wanted to.
Harry answered by prying his hands loose, grabbing Draco's hips and thrusting upwards. "Faster," he gasped.
Draco didn't need telling twice, and his body responded, as it always did with Harry. He leaned down enough to feel the glorious muscles of Harry's chest beneath his hands as their pace picked up and quickly became erratic.
