Not sure if it's British so much as maybe Scottish or Welsh or maybe even Irish. More Celtic anyway. I'm English - ok, we moved here when I was 7 - but I've watched a lot of British shows on TV here and read a lot of British books and never have I heard 'shite' used. It's interesting though. In Ausralia, it's just 'shit' all the time. Nice and easy... ; )
