Harry and Draco lay comfortably atop their floating bed. It was actually more of a padded disk suspended by rope, inside a pillared structure resembling a gazebo. They had had some fun trying to get onto the thing at first, but once they mastered the technique, they had realized that it was, in fact, quite comfortable.
The view was breathtaking. They looked out over the rolling hills and down at the scattering of homes below. On the other side they faced the ocean, with its white sandy beach that went on for miles. They had spent the last few evenings lying atop the bed, breathing in the fresh ocean air, content to be in each other's presence without needing words to fill the silence.
"Draco?"
"Hmm?"
"Fancy a walk?"
"Sure. Where were you thinking?"
"Along the beach. The sun is low in the sky, and I'd like to take in the sunset while we walk."
Draco couldn't get over just how romantic his boyfriend was. For all the strength and courage he possessed, he really was sweet inside. Draco adored that about Harry, but he wasn't going to tell him that. He was just too cute to watch, wearing his heart on his sleeve, yet still so shy about expressing his love in words. Draco rolled over to give Harry a slow, tender kiss.
"I'd love to take in the sunset with you. Besides, after all the eating and lazing about we've done over the past few days, we could use the exercise."
"Oh, I don't know," Harry said cheekily. "We've been getting in some marathon exercise sessions too."
Draco chuckled. "Too true." He manoeuvred his way off the bed and held his hand out to help Harry. "Nevertheless, I like to stay fit. Keeps you on your toes."
Harry smacked his bum playfully and they set off just as the sun began its descent, and the sky began to turn a hazy shade of orange. They twined their hands together, walking barefoot along the cooling sand.
"You know, I've been thinking," Harry said.
"Careful, you might hurt yourself," Draco teased.
"Ha ha, very funny. No, really, we should do this every year."
"You mean a vacation, just the two of us?"
"Yeah. I've really enjoyed getting away from everything, being completely out of touch. It's made me appreciate what we have even more."
"How so?"
"I've never been able to just ... be. You know, without trying to do something or act a certain way. With you I'm just me."
"Surely you're that way with Ron and Hermione too?"
"No, not really. Besides the obvious, I couldn't do with them what I do with you. I couldn't just sit back and enjoy. I guess you could say I feel at peace when I'm with you."
"You're getting all sappy on me, Harry."
He stopped walking and turned to face Draco, grasping his free hand. "I'm only sappy with you because I'm not afraid to be. You may tease me, but I know inside you love that I'm like this with you ... only with you."
Draco wasn't sure why he had held back before now. "You're right. I do love that about you. In fact, there's not much that I don't love about you."
Harry's smile shone brighter than the sun had moments before it started to set. It lit up his eyes, his face, and Draco's heart. "Dance with me, Harry."
"But there's no music," Harry protested.
"Sure there is, if you listen carefully."
They wrapped their arms around each other and began swaying to the beat of their hearts. The sun turned from orange to red to rust and finally faded away beyond the horizon, leaving just a silhouette of two forms embracing and kissing as though their love was the only light in the world, the only light they'd ever need.
