Harry and Draco returned from the store laden with all sorts of decorations. Draco couldn't resist every time Harry held up something, though he was quite sure each room in the house would be covered with Christmas cheer, and they'd still have things left over. They had purchased nothing either red or gold, at Harry's insistence. Draco had pointed out one tree in the store, covered in nothing but red bows and balls and some gold chains and ornaments. Harry had to admit that it reminded him of the tree in the Gryffindor common room.
"I didn't even realize that almost everything I own is red or gold. I can't have you living in a Gryffindor house, because this is our home," he had insisted. Draco hadn't felt guilty enough after over-reacting, but his boyfriend had to be the most understanding, caring, loving person he'd ever met. And he wasn't even a Hufflepuff!
Harry insisted upon putting on Christmas music, though Draco managed to convince him that The Nutcracker Suite was preferable to Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and other Christmas Favourites. Draco warmed up some cider and they began to decorate together.
The tree was Draco's favourite part. They had each bought the other a special ornament to signify this first holiday together, and funny enough, Narcissa and Molly had also gifted them with a Christmas ornament for their first one together.
When all was said and done, the tree looked perfect, and no one would tell them otherwise. It was a tasteful mixture of red, gold, green and silver. The perfect tree for the perfect Christmas.
Draco noticed some red and gold fabric ribbon in the corner, and a delicious idea formed in his mind. Grabbing the ribbon and leading his boyfriend to their bedroom, Draco knew the perfect way to make up for his not-so-perfect outburst earlier.
