Harry waited in their house for Draco to return from King's Cross with their children for the Christmas holidays. It was their tradition that Harry would stay back while Draco took them shopping for Harry's gift.
Harry would always prepare some hot apple cider for their arrival. The children loved to arrive to the smell of Christmas, they had told Harry. It was cinnamon and cloves, he had pointed out to them countless times, but they insisted it was the smell of coming home for the holidays.
Harry always took them shopping the next day for Draco's gift. Harry chuckled as he wondered what Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes product would befall Draco this year. Each of the men cherished those few moments alone with their children, to talk about anything and everything and nothing, before the craziness of Christmas took hold.
Harry smiled as he prepared the cider, lost in memories and looking forward to making some new ones.

Date: 2007-12-14 07:46 am (UTC)I totally imagine them being awesome dads, to ensure their own kids don't have to go through childhoods (or the lack of them) like they did.
Thanks ♥

Date: 2007-12-14 09:26 am (UTC)It's lovely, and tender and perfect! Like a lifetime story made of moments. Love their simple and 'just-for-family' traditions, because they are the ones you will remember forever, and the quiet sense of day by day happiness that transpires.
And, curiously, there's a 'smell of Christmas' for me too. Orange blossom water. Arriving my parents flat and smelling it (means dad making sweets) always makes my heart swell.
