Harry and Draco spent a good deal of time poring over the various pamphlets the travel agency had provided, dismissing the low brow tours outright (Draco absolutely refused to rough it, even if it was in a resort or a cabin with plenty of modern conveniences).

After settling on putting their names on three separate waiting lists for exclusive vacation getaways at some point in the future, they settled on taking an international portkey to South Australia for a week. Harry had managed to convince Draco that two days in some posh resort would be wasted, since they were unlikely to come out of the room much in such a short time anyway.

While Draco protested this outright dismissal, Harry convinced him that the Bed and Breakfast they had found (a private cottage on a vineyard, actually) would be a perfect, private getaway for them to celebrate their first Valentine's Day together. It was only an hour outside Adelaide, so they could take in the sights there while staying outside the city. And they could enjoy taking in some winery tours while they were there, something Harry knew Draco would appreciate. They weren't by the beach, but the extensive lawns and gardens would provide a romantic setting for moonlit walks.

"And any needs the cottage doesn't provide for," Harry assured him, "I will."

"You'll be at my service?" Draco asked, eyebrow raised suggestively.

"Night and day," Harry assured him with a cheeky grin.

"Well, alright then," he relented. "I'll have to warn you, though ... some suggest that I'm a bit high maintenance."

Harry nearly fell off the sofa laughing at that. "Tell me something I don't know." Still chuckling, he added, "It's a good thing you're so gorgeous. It goes a long way to help make up for all the maintenance you require. Oh, and I suppose it helps that I love you."

"I hate you," Draco scowled at him.

Grinning and pulling Draco into a searing kiss, Harry growled, "Yeah, sure you do."

::snickers:: a bit!? loved this catch up hon. and yay for them going away together! that cottage you provided in the link was absolutely stunning. i would love to have that as my house (except minus all of australia's creepy-crawlys and spiders of course!) ;D

*cracks up* - yeah, a 'bit' in his mind.

Two places in the world I would consider as a 'dream vacation' - Australia and Hawaii. But now you mention the creepy-crawlies, I dunno ... that might freak me out a bit. I still want to go there, just maybe not to live.

I loved the look of the cottage myself. *sighs* Unless I win the lottery, I'm stuck here for the rest of the winter. But on the bright side, it looks like skiing this weekend - w00t!

Heheh, I don't know how Jordan knows about the spiders and creepy-crawlies, I certainly didn't tell him...

Actually, there aren't that many spiders (and most are pretty harmless anyway). Plenty of flies though. And personally, I'm more freaked out by the lizards you see running around in summer, and just the other day I found a frog in the living room. :/ No idea how it got in... but umm, other than that, Australia's a lovely place.

Really. *g*

[identity profile] nocturnali.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
On that one I will agree with you. Random spiders - but they still all scare the crap outta me - and I've never seen a snake in the wild. Lived here for a very long time and only ever seen red back spiders a handful of times. No more creepy crawlies, I don't think, than anywhere else in the world.

It's just hot and dry.

Good to know. And a very pretty icon. ♥

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
And with random terrifying bouts of thunderstorms, and flood up in the north. Hahah, don't you just love Australian nature and weather? *g*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We get random, terrifying thunderstorms here too. Doesn't bother me (though my youngest gets really freaked out).

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Like I said, I still want to go. I'm just happy living with non-poisonous spiders here in Canada. :)

Frog in the living room. Hmm. As long as the creatures aren't poisonous, I think I'd be okay. Oh, and if they didn't crawl ON me. *shudders*

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it didn't crawl on me. :) All I did was scream, jump on my bed and flail, until my dad came in and shooed it outside. *g*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I'm the one doing the shooing around here, so they'd better not come near me. Otherwise, shooing turns into squishing pretty quickly. :)

[identity profile] idontgiveafaux.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
hey, i watch i'm a celebrity, get me out of here, i know all the creepy-crawlies in australia, thank you! ;D (the name 'huntsman spider' remind me of spider hunters planning to attack and leech onto you ::shakes::)

And personally, I'm more freaked out by the lizards you see running around in summer, and just the other day I found a frog in the living room. :/ No idea how it got in... but umm, other than that, Australia's a lovely place.

O_O

well that's not so bad i suppose, not compared to when my cousin went to florida and found a SNAKE crawling up the TOILET (a year before i was meant to go, i was so frightened.)

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Snake in a toilet?! *shudders repeatedly* And you're worried about fish up the urethra? I don't even NEED to finish my thought, right? *shudders again*

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I found a huntsman in our recycling bin just last week, but no big deal - I prompt shut the lid and forgot about it. :/

But never fear, they're not dangerous after all (even though they look quite big and scary (http://www.amonline.net.au/factSheets/images/huntsman.jpg) (and by dangerous, I mean poisonous of course *g*) It's the pretty red ones you have to actually be worried about. :)

And err, all those jokes about crocadile up toilets? Completely false, let me assure you. ;D

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Every time my son sees a spider, he's convinced it's a black widow. When they're not even black, and look nothing like them. He even imagines seeing the markings. They've always been the usual harmless spiders we get around here.

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahaha, cute, albeit your son sounds a bit paranoid to me. :/

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
A BIT paranoid? That's like Draco saying he's a BIT high-maintenance. *giggles*

[identity profile] idontgiveafaux.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
::snickers::

don't worry, it's not a point-and-lets-laugh snicker, more like an i-totally-know-where-he's-coming-from-snicker. guilty of the same crime here! ;D

::shudders:: i was so scared of clicking on that link for ages and the fact that you were so casual about finding one in your recycling bin! if i ever saw a spider that big in my house i would have to stay somewhere else until they removed it. i'm not joking, they creep me out so much :'(

pretty red spiders? since when were spiders pretty!? their webs may be nicely designed but that's about it. nasty little things.

And err, all those jokes about crocadile up toilets? Completely false, let me assure you. ;D

O_O i forgot all about the dangers of crocodiles (the only species of animal i see as being truly, wholeheartedly evil.) have you ever seen one?? has there ever been one on your property!? ::is scared but intrigued::

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
*squishes you*

You are just soooo cute. Here, have some cake to calm the nerves.

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwww... it's okay, really! *protects manly!Jordan from the spiders*

And the red ones do look prettier, but I'm sensing some anti-spider sentiments from you; so I won't go into how spiders are the only creepy-crawlies I refuse to kill, but instead trap them and let them outside into the garden. *g*

But, err, no. No crocodiles (thank goodness). We don't live around any salty marshes, so there's no fear of that... actually, we live in the hills district, I imagine a crocodile would have difficulty crawling up and down those sloping roads. :)

it must be amazing to be able to go skiing in the snow. the most we have here is rain and it's not fun to sing in as the movie makes out :\

Two places in the world I would consider as a 'dream vacation' - Australia and Hawaii. But now you mention the creepy-crawlies, I dunno ... that might freak me out a bit. I still want to go there, just maybe not to live.

what's hawaii like on the creepy-crawlies front? i always imagined it to be a dream vacation too and my dream vacations don't include nasty little bugs lol. i especially have nightmares about the fish that swims up your urethra O_O

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my goodness. Give me a minute here.

*recovers from urethra-inspired giggle-fit*

Singing in the Rain is my all-time favourite old movie! Yay! Anyway, skiing is great. We all prefer cross-country to downhill, so we can just drive ten minutes up the road to some great trails. The last two years weren't good, though (last year had too bitter weekends when my sons were with me, and the year before there wasn't enough snow). I think we should be okay for this weekend, so a Sunday family ski trip may actually happen - w00t!

Not sure about creepy crawlies in Hawaii. My sister (bitch) is currently there, so I'll ask her when she gets back.

[identity profile] idontgiveafaux.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
::hides:: did i say it right? normally i just go with piss-slit and be done with it but i wanted to sound advanced lol.

a sunday ski trip. that sounds like a million miles from here (er... which it is, i guess.) i'd love to be able to just jump in the car for a bit and then go skiing (i've never even wore a pair). but on the other hand, i've witnessed through your journal entries how the snow can get out of hand (exactly how many snow days have the kids had, this term!? ;D)

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
*cracks up*

Most years, the snow isn't this bad, and being Canadian I do really like it. You know, in small doses. I've lost track of the snow days now, but the latest threat didn't become one, so they were in class all week (that's five whole days in a row - w00t)! It may be the first full week of classes they've had (my oldest anyway). Monday is a holiday, so a Sunday ski trip sounds perfect ... we can recover the next day by lazing about.

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
What creepy-crawlies and spiders? *looks innocent*
