Harry and Draco lay comfortably atop their floating bed. It was actually more of a padded disk suspended by rope, inside a pillared structure resembling a gazebo. They had had some fun trying to get onto the thing at first, but once they mastered the technique, they had realized that it was, in fact, quite comfortable.

The view was breathtaking. They looked out over the rolling hills and down at the scattering of homes below. On the other side they faced the ocean, with its white sandy beach that went on for miles. They had spent the last few evenings lying atop the bed, breathing in the fresh ocean air, content to be in each other's presence without needing words to fill the silence.

"Draco?"

"Hmm?"

"Fancy a walk?"

"Sure. Where were you thinking?"

"Along the beach. The sun is low in the sky, and I'd like to take in the sunset while we walk."

Draco couldn't get over just how romantic his boyfriend was. For all the strength and courage he possessed, he really was sweet inside. Draco adored that about Harry, but he wasn't going to tell him that. He was just too cute to watch, wearing his heart on his sleeve, yet still so shy about expressing his love in words. Draco rolled over to give Harry a slow, tender kiss.

"I'd love to take in the sunset with you. Besides, after all the eating and lazing about we've done over the past few days, we could use the exercise."

"Oh, I don't know," Harry said cheekily. "We've been getting in some marathon exercise sessions too."

Draco chuckled. "Too true." He manoeuvred his way off the bed and held his hand out to help Harry. "Nevertheless, I like to stay fit. Keeps you on your toes."

Harry smacked his bum playfully and they set off just as the sun began its descent, and the sky began to turn a hazy shade of orange. They twined their hands together, walking barefoot along the cooling sand.

"You know, I've been thinking," Harry said.

"Careful, you might hurt yourself," Draco teased.

"Ha ha, very funny. No, really, we should do this every year."

"You mean a vacation, just the two of us?"

"Yeah. I've really enjoyed getting away from everything, being completely out of touch. It's made me appreciate what we have even more."

"How so?"

"I've never been able to just ... be. You know, without trying to do something or act a certain way. With you I'm just me."

"Surely you're that way with Ron and Hermione too?"

"No, not really. Besides the obvious, I couldn't do with them what I do with you. I couldn't just sit back and enjoy. I guess you could say I feel at peace when I'm with you."

"You're getting all sappy on me, Harry."

He stopped walking and turned to face Draco, grasping his free hand. "I'm only sappy with you because I'm not afraid to be. You may tease me, but I know inside you love that I'm like this with you ... only with you."

Draco wasn't sure why he had held back before now. "You're right. I do love that about you. In fact, there's not much that I don't love about you."

Harry's smile shone brighter than the sun had moments before it started to set. It lit up his eyes, his face, and Draco's heart. "Dance with me, Harry."

"But there's no music," Harry protested.

"Sure there is, if you listen carefully."

They wrapped their arms around each other and began swaying to the beat of their hearts. The sun turned from orange to red to rust and finally faded away beyond the horizon, leaving just a silhouette of two forms embracing and kissing as though their love was the only light in the world, the only light they'd ever need.

Thanks, hon.

So sweet and sugary.
*HUGS*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm ... extra sweet. :)

[identity profile] winter-june.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Lovely images and so sweet!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon. I'm not so great with imagery, so it didn't turn out too badly. Definitely sweeeeeeeeet, though. ;)

[identity profile] sassy-cissa.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That was beautiful. I love your imagery and it was the dose of fluff I needed right now. ♥

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww ... *big fluffy squishes to you*

Thanks. I'm not normally an imagery writer, so I appreciate that. :)

[identity profile] tweeney.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww! That was sooo sweet! And I loved the imagery. ♥

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, and yay for imagery ♥ since I'm not that good at it. :)

[identity profile] tweeney.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
since I'm not that good at it.
Could have fooled me. ;)

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thanks. I actually have a plan of action this year that I'm asking for flist help with ... a short fic each month, starting in Feb, that's descriptive. Then they rip it to shreds to help me work on my style/approach/whatever. So I'm pleased if I occasionally get it right ... or at least make a passable effort.

[identity profile] tweeney.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, sucking up concrit, soldier? You're too brave. :D And judging by the imagery here - you're doing great. :)

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I know it's my weakest point. When I try to describe scenes, it generally comes out sounding like a math or engineering text. Dull, dry, boring. So there's no better way to improve than practice, and there's no faster way to fix mistakes than to have them pointed out to you, so yeah. I'm actually ASKING for people to rip apart my work. I got about 13 people to agree (I'm not posting publicly, but rather to the group), I believe, so here's hoping it helps.

And thanks for the encouragement. I can occasionally put something decent on paper, but it doesn't come naturally very often. I'm more of a "The place was so large, he was sure he could fit his entire house into the foyer" kind of person than a "The sheer enormity of the structure overwhelmed him, as though it had a life of its own, crushing down upon him with its awe-inspiring vastness" kind of writer.

[identity profile] tweeney.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, tell me about it. I'm more of a dialog girl myself. Once in a while I whip out a decent descriptive scene, but this is totally something I'd love to get better at, so I definitely see your point there.

I'm sure it's going to help - nothing like good concrit to get the blood running boiling, whatever :D and to strive for better. ♥

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll see how well I take the criticism. *is nervous*

[identity profile] tweeney.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Just remember: whatever it is - it's constructive. :) *pets you*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah ... I trust the people that have volunteered to be constructive. And since I know that this is my weak point, I should already be prepared for some not-so-pleasant feedback. But it's all in the name of improving my writing, so I'm looking forward to it. However nervously. :)

"Dance with me, Harry."

OH MY GOD! You got in all those prompts and still managed to get the boys dancing for me??? OH MY GOD!

*flails and cries tears of joy*

Will you marry me, Sesheta??? I am so in love with you right now!!!

I can't believe how perfect this was! Absolutely beautiful! I don't even know how to thank you. So, I'll just say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

*big giant squishy hugs*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins*

I'm so glad you liked it. I know you asked for the beach, and I know you're a sucker for the boys dancing (whether you asked for it or not), so I had the picture in mind right away. The other prompts actually just happened to fit in.

And whoa on the schmoop, huh? Where did that imagery and sappiness come from? My Valentine-jaded mind took the night off, I suppose. Hee. I'm glad it wasn't too schmoopy for you. :)

Oh, and be careful what you ask for. Same-sex marriage is legal in this country, remember? Heh. But relax ... once bitten ... I'm not the marrying type any more.

I'm just thrilled at your reaction. *big squishes*

[identity profile] kaykayen.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The sun turned from orange to red to rust and finally faded away beyond the horizon, leaving just a silhouette of two forms embracing and kissing... What a gorgeous picture!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
*flails* - so glad you liked that. I suck at doing imagery / descriptive prose, so I'm pleased when I can put something on 'paper' that doesn't completely blow. Yay!

[identity profile] witchdragon.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So lovely and sweet!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you ♥

[identity profile] lackofmendacity.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwww... and here I was, thinking you didn't do the Valentine's Day fluff. *g*

*hugs you for all the sweetness* ^_^

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I don't know where that came from. I guess the beach and the sunset just brought it all out. *sighs*

[identity profile] nillaskye.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
How romantic! *sighs*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah ... I would love some romance at the beach. *sighs*

[identity profile] svgurl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, those two are so cute! This made me really happy! I like the boys all happy and romantic with each other.

Thanks for writing and sharing!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad this made you happy. And, hey Tom! His face in this picture just makes me want to grab him and plant a big, wet smooch right on his lips, he's so adorable! :)

[identity profile] lire-casander.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
How wonderful, and you made them dance! +is in love* Such a good read to start off my Valentine's Day!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad you liked my schmoopy fluff! I shall hibernate now and pretend V-day doesn't exist. ;)

[identity profile] lire-casander.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I hibernate with you? At morning at work, it'll be horrible, I just know it. Everyone will be starry-eyed and inlove!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*vomits*

And of all days, I agreed to meet the ladies from the office for lunch tomorrow! Gah! I requested no discussion of the evil day, and one of them is single like me, so there's always hope. I just seriously hope there aren't a bunch of romantic things kicking around the office. Crap! I'll bet there will be flowers and cards and ... *gags* Maybe I'll meet them at the restaurant. Thankfully not Madame Puddifoot's. ;)

Have as good a day as you can, sweetie! *hugs*

[identity profile] lire-casander.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You too. And take care, all those cards and red wrapped gifts can be seriously dangerous.

*hugs*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be careful not to step in the schmoopy love. :D

[identity profile] enchanted-jae.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
This was completely sweet, and adorably sappy!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon. Thought you might like that. ♥

[identity profile] thrnbrooke.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh how perfect!!!

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Why thank you! ♥

[identity profile] idontgiveafaux.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
oh. my. fucking. god. that was so romantic (and yet i ruined it with vulgarity lol) seriously hon, so sweet. i'm not normally a fan of overt romance but this was just so lovely, loved the setting you created and some of the lines were just heartbreakingly gorgeous:

"But there's no music," Harry protested.

"Sure there is, if you listen carefully."

::melts:: perfect! ::hugs::

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
*bounces*

Thanks, hon. As I wrote the last part, I thought, "Gah, this is really sappy," and I don't normally write (or like) too too sappy stuff unless a prompt really pushes it, which this one didn't. I still don't know where all that came from (I guess I'm a closet romantic).

[identity profile] ayurubie.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
gave me a tooth ache *lolz*

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Me too! I made sure to use a fluoride rinse the night I posted it. *g*

[identity profile] slashy-4.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
*squee* Gotta go outside to cool off :)

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*hands you glass of cold water* ;)

[identity profile] byaghro.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww! Sweeties! I love this bit:

but I know inside you love that I'm like this with you ... only with you.

I like when they're a certain way only with each other.

[identity profile] sesheta-66.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks hon. Glad you liked.
