Part 16 - Draco's Promise:

Six months later, life had returned to normal as they had known it before Ginny had kidnapped Harry. Well, as normal as could be expected.

Harry had developed a few new quirks, such as snuggling up to Draco when he slept, arm draped over him. He used to like his space when he slept, but now he couldn't seem to get close enough, especially when he slept. Draco teased him about it, but loved every minute of it. Harry was still having nightmares, although not nearly as frequently. Severus had offered to remove the memories, in order for Harry to get on with his life. Harry had refused.

Draco, though he had never told Harry this, was very pleased about that. He didn't want Harry to suffer, but he likewise didn't want him to forget what the she-weasel had done. Though Lucius hadn't imparted a lot of useful advice over the years, there were a few things that Draco still carried with him. One of them was, "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Harry was living proof of that.

Draco knew that what had happened with Ginny would never happen again, because now Harry knew what she was capable of. She could never manipulate Harry the way she had in the past. Still, one could never be too careful.

Currently she was being held under strict supervision at St. Mungo's, and there were no signs of her being released any time soon.

Harry had only been to see her once. He and Draco had gone together, just to be clear. Draco had insisted, although Harry hadn't objected. He had, however, reminded Draco of his promise.

Draco had not broken his word. He did not cast a spell on her, hex her, physically hurt her, or administer any potions to her. Just like he had promised.

But he hadn't said anything about sending enchanted letters to her. He had sent one a week since she had been admitted to the hospital. Each one, when read by anyone other than Ginny, was charmed to look like a get well note from a friend or classmate. However, when Ginny read them, they told lovely little stories about Harry and his love for Draco.

Also, Draco made sure to send her every article that had been printed in the newspaper about any of them, saying how crazy she was, how brave Draco was, or how relieved Harry was to be out of her clutches and back home with Draco where he belonged.

Then there were the announcements about Harry and Draco's engagement, and all the social paper articles about the "hottest gay couple in the wizarding world" and their plans to live their lives together always.

Draco hid all such articles in a similar manner to the stories, in get well cards, because he knew that Ginny's mail was restricted.

One added little touch that he always included was a moving picture of Harry and him kissing very passionately, then declaring their love for one another. That had been caught on film without their knowledge one time, and sent anonymously to them. Draco had charmed every note, letter and card to finish up with that picture.

Smiling to himself, Draco was quite sure that Ginny would be remaining in St. Mungo's for a very, very long time to come.

Very cruel, my dear. Reminds me of the follow-up fic that kit wrote after Finding Harry. It was called Revenge, and involved a similar (but more physically painful) bit of revenge that Draco wreaked on Terry Boot, after Terry had sexually and physically and psychologically abused Harry for years...
I alone (it seems) among your readers feel sorry for Ginny here. She was obviously mentally unbalanced to begin with. But it's nice to know Ginny won't be getting out of St.Mungo's in the foreseeable future, because I don't know that someone can be truly cured of a delusion such as Ginny was under.

PS: Just wanted you to know that it's very ingenious and I liked it! I know my first comment didn't really convey that.

Whilst I personally love Draco's evil plot, I don't think Harry would be too happy with it if he ever found out. *worried*

Harry refusing to have the memories removed was definitely *thumbs up* :)

Well, I finally finished it ~ AND I LOVE IT!!! *pets story*

I was especially impressed with the reactions both Harry and Draco had to Harry's imprisonment ~ questioning what the other felt, if one was still what the other wanted, and at the same time trying depserately to push those thoughts away and focus on getting back to each other. It seemed to me to be exactly what would have happened; a natural progression of the terror of being taken and left, and the loneliness it would bring.

And Draco's promise? As he was making it, I was thinking "That boy is going to find some way around it, I just know it.", and oh my oh my, I'm SO glad he did!

Really enjoyable! I loved it.

Lovely ending. Ginny = crazy (duh). Just an idea, dunno if you still have the muse for this, but could you write some ficlets revolving around those get-well cards? :D Ignore this if you've already done so, I just discovered and read this series today (or would that be yesterday since it's past 12?) haha.
