I know what you mean about Ginny bashing in the fandom; (the 'she's in my fandom, ruining my slash' kind of thing) it *does* happen. But I don't think it was the point of this fic. All the more unpleasant comments about Ginny, come from Draco, and we can't really blame him here, because he admits to having a crush on Harry (thus feeling jealous of Ginny, not to mention he already dislikes her for being a Weasly) and we all know he's a bit of a wanker to people he doesn't like. But! He's right when he says that she tried to make Harry jealous in the 6th year, and I don't think there's any doubt that Ginny harboured a star-struck hero-worship thing for Harry in her younger age. So I don't think Draco is being unreasonably unfair, and it's normal -under the circumstances- that he felt hatred and resentment when Harry told him about Ginny's parting words to him. He was only being protective of the man he cared about. And I think Harry would take a lot from the person he loved and wanted to make a family with, before he got fed and up and leave, so it *is* kind of necessary to 'demonize', as you said, Ginny in order for them to realistically break up. Maybe I'm too much of a H/D 'shipper and thus biased, but I just don't think there was malicious bashing of Ginny here. But each to his/her own :)
