Draco stood there, staring at his outstretched hand, wondering why he was doing this, reminded painfully of rejection so long ago.

This time, however, they were not children. They'd lived through a war, had saved each other's lives, and maybe, just maybe, they could get beyond all the ghosts of their past.

And yet here he stood, feeling once again like he had as a boy, wondering what he could have possibly done to offend the great Harry Potter this time.

Potter swatted his hand away. Draco was stunned, wanting to scream, "Why?" when Potter reached forward and embraced him.

A wave of relief flooded over Draco, as he realised he'd been right. Perhaps they could get past their history.

He lifted his arms and gently patted Potter's back. He wasn't sure what to do, really. Potter clung to him so hard, almost like he never planned to let go. Draco was surprised to find the thought didn't bother him. Quite the opposite.

He wrapped his arms properly around Potter's back and squeezed.

"Thanks for coming," Potter said.

"I thought … well, I don't know what I thought."

Potter finally released him from his death grip. "Thank you."

Draco nodded.
