Oh, I don't think it was right, nor was it fair. He's hurting Harry and himself in the process. And you're right - he's not giving Harry any say in the matter.

What he's thinking is that he is going to get married no matter what, and he's afraid that Harry would stay with him anyway, because he loves him. And being the 'other man' would make Harry hate himself, thereby cheapening what they had, and eventually making it feel like some sordid affair.

So ... in his mind he's played it out, and doesn't want to do that to Harry. Meanwhile, he really doesn't HAVE to get married for convenience, and give up the love of his life. But I think he's got to be without Harry for a while before he realizes just what he's done. But unfortunately, it'll probably be too late by then.

I'd like to think love is the most important thing, too, but if you're raised to believe something different, it's hard to shake that. I'm not saying it's right, but it's something to consider.
