Well its very arrogant, selfish reasoning, not gallant at all, even though he might think it is. Because he's not giving Harry a say in it. By thinking what he and Harry had would be reduced to a cheap, sordid affair, he's cheapening it himself and thus, it's obviously not all that important to him.

Bah, maybe I'm just like Harry and think love is always the most important thing.
